An Oberoi Group spokesperson said chairman emeritus Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi died at 94 on Tuesday (November 14) morning.
PRS Oberoi, the Indian hospitality king, left a significant legacy.
Oberoi Hotels founder Rai Bahadur Mohan Singh Oberoi was his father.
“It is with deep sadness that we inform the peaceful passing of PRS Oberoi, Chairman Emeritus of The Oberoi Group, earlier today,” said a release.
Oberoi, a hospitality icon, left an unmistakable mark on the world, it noted.
“We mourn a true icon and honor PRS Oberoi’s tremendous legacy. “We will announce our memorial plans in the coming days,” the message read.
The cremation will begin at 4 pm on Tuesday at the Bhagwanti Oberoi Charitable Trust, Oberoi Farm, Kapashera.
Additional statement: “We cordially invite Oberoi’s friends to attend and pay their respects. We will also pray for him at our hotels and Corporate Office today”.
