Sonali Bendre’s timeless sense of fashion is based on grace, nostalgia, and timeless wardrobe pieces. That story is carried on by her most recent appearance in a gorgeous, shaded chiffon sari designed by Nachiket Barve. The sari, which is dyed in beautiful sunset hues that range from saffron to deep scarlet, is a testament to how exquisite simplicity can be.
The origin of this sari has a fascinating history, according to designer Nachiket Barve. About 13 years ago, I made her a chiffon look for a TV program in which she appeared. She was dressed in a silk route-inspired sari from my Caravan line. It was a sunset-hued gradient sari, and the blouse looked like armored doors. When the performer and designer recently met, the recollection inspired a new partnership that resulted in this redesigned drape for her next reality show, Pati, Patni Aur Panga.

The sari is made from gossamer-thin chiffon and is completely hand-dyed to resemble the sky as it changes from dawn to twilight. The way the colors blend has an otherworldly quality. However, the blouse is what makes the ensemble stand out. “We have been trying to perfect the idea of three dimensionality in ornamentation, and this is my signature appliqué work,” Barve says. We created roughly seven different kinds of flowers for Sonali’s blouse. Each flower is embellished with sequins, beading, thread embroidery, cutwork, bugle beads, and, of course, appliqué.” The blouse is almost airy, despite the stunning intricacy. It is weightless even though it was created at the level of haute couture. It took more than 500 hours to weave and embroider the blouse alone. It’s a style that combines Indian artistry with a modern sari,” he continues.
Her outfit’s adaptability, which allows it to be worn for any event and in any season, is what makes it so alluring. Sonali Bendre accessorized the ensemble with Tribe Amrapali’s oxidized silver earrings, which matched the sari and were engraved with the brand’s distinctive chand designs and orange stones. With dewy skin, flushed cheeks, and a rose-toned lip, her makeup was kept delicate and bright, and her defined eyes added a touch of drama. Her hair was arranged in a bouffant and a half-up, half-down do to fit the retro appeal.
