Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, widely celebrated for his humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 lockdown, has dismissed speculation that his kindness was motivated by political ambitions. Dubbed a “messiah” for migrant workers during the pandemic, Sood became a household name for his selfless service. Despite receiving several high-profile offers to enter politics, he has chosen to remain focused on social work.
In a recent interview, Sonu Sood revealed the magnitude of the opportunities presented to him, ranging from Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister positions to a seat in the Rajya Sabha.
“I was even offered the position of Chief Minister. When I turned it down, they suggested, ‘Why not Deputy Chief Minister?’ Some of the most influential people in the country were behind these offers, including a seat in the Rajya Sabha. They said, ‘Join us, you don’t need to fight elections, just be with us,’” Sonu Sood shared.
While humbled by the recognition and encouragement from prominent political figures, Sood reiterated that he has no plans to venture into politics. He emphasized that his mission remains rooted in making a difference through direct action and service.
