On Friday, March 29, Bollywood star and entrepreneur Sonu Sood asked his supporters and fans to show respect for cricket players since they represent our nation with pride. Sonu declared on his official X account that he adores cricket and every Indian player. It should be noted that Sonu’s remark coincides with criticism directed at cricket player Hardik Pandya for deposing Rohit Sharma as captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

On social media, Hardik is the target of vicious trolling, particularly since MI’s loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 27. During IPL matches, he was even jeered by cricket fans gathered in stadiums.

Sonu said, “We should respect our players,” expressing his support for the Indian cricket players. Players who brought honour to our nation and made us proud. You support them one day and boo them the next.”

“It’s not them, it’s us who fail,” the actor continued. I adore playing cricket. I adore every cricket player that plays for my nation. Whichever franchise he plays for is irrelevant. It makes no difference if he is a team captain or their fifteenth player. They are our heroes.

Although Sonu did not address anyone by name in his article, followers pointed out that it was intended for Hardik in the comments section. Some expressed agreement with the actor, while others had other thoughts on Hardik’s leadership.

During the COVID-19 shutdown, Sonu who has acted in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada films made headlines for helping thousands of migrant workers return home when all other means of transit were closed. Along with helping individuals arrange beds, injections, medications, and vaccinations, he also gave food and necessities to those in need.

On the acting top, Sonu will star with Jacqueline Fernandez in the thrilling movie Fateh. The film, which Sonu is also directing, will be released on wide screens in 2024. The film is centred around cybercrimes.
