Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly remains cautious about predicting the winner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, even though he acknowledges that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are a formidable side.
Addressing the media at Eden Gardens on Friday, Ganguly, who is associated with the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise, refrained from making any bold claims about the season’s outcome. He emphasized that the tournament is highly competitive and it is too early to determine a clear frontrunner.
“It is too early to say anything right now. The tournament is too long and competitive,” Ganguly remarked, further highlighting that “all teams are balanced.”
When asked about KKR’s spin-bowling strength, Ganguly pointed out Varun Chakravarthy as a key player to watch. He believes the 29-year-old spinner will thrive in the fast-paced T20 format, making him a crucial asset for KKR this season.
“He (Varun Chakravarthy) will bowl even better in this format (T-20). Kolkata Knight Riders is a strong team,” Ganguly said, ahead of the much-anticipated opening match between KKR and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Saturday.
With the tournament set to begin, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await how teams, including KKR, will perform on the big stage.
