Aayushi Maniar’s Indrani lehenga, a patchwork of jewel tones and meticulous embroidery that resembled a painting of color and skill rather than clothes, was Sreeleela’s choice for Janmashtami.

The lehenga is part of Maniar’s most recent “Banno” collection, which emphasizes textiles just as much as needlework. “We wanted to create something that exudes both grandeur and delicacy when we envisioned this lehenga,” Maniar says. The beginning was the cloth. We utilized tissue for the dupatta and tussar organza for the lehenga. The designer continues, “Each of these textiles has a delicate lightness of its own while maintaining a regal presence.”

The lehenga was embroidered with floral and architectural designs that harmoniously contrasted with each other, and it was cut in alternating kalis of jewel tones. Regarding the craft, Maniar states that “each motif has been hand-worked using tikki, zardozi, katdana, and poth work.” “The goal was always to strike a balance between celebration and refinement.”

The counterpoint was Sreeleela’s blouse, which had an angiya-style patchwork in red, green, purple, and orange. The off-shoulder cut gave the classic form a modern edge. Her outfit was completed with a crimson tissue dupatta with beaded tassels and cording. Without overpowering it, the embellishments accentuated the lehenga’s richness. She wore a delicate maang tikka, kaan phool, and jhumkas with a kundan choker framing her neckline. Her makeup remained subtle and radiant, drawing attention to the costume, while her hair was braided and fastened with a crimson parandi.

Her makeup remained subtle and radiant, drawing attention to the costume, while her hair was styled in a long braid with a crimson parandi. When worn one way, it exudes the effortless elegance of a celebration during the day; when styled another way, it looks just as good in the evening.
