Stock Market Today:  The majority of the stocks that make up the Sensex and the Nifty, two Indian market indices, finished the day in the red. During the trading session, the Sensex experienced a sharp decline, falling 869 points to a low of 66,728.14 during the day. The Nifty also experienced a loss of 254 points, reaching an intraday low of 19,878.85. 

The Sensex reported a loss of 796 points, or 1.18 percent, at the end of the trading day, closing at 66,800.84. The Nifty closed at 19,901.40, down 232 points or 1.15 percent, closing below the 20,000 level.

Among the major Sensex constituents, HDFC Bank was found to be the main cause of the decline, closely followed by Reliance Industries.

Despite suffering losses as well, mid- and small-cap stocks outperformed the Sensex. The BSE Smallcap index ended 0.51 percent lower while the BSE Midcap index fell 0.33 percent.

From Rs. 323 lakh crore in the previous session, the total market capitalization of companies listed on the BSE decreased to roughly Rs. 320.7 lakh crore. Investors suffered a combined loss of close to Rs. 2.3 lakh crore as a result of this decline in just one trading session.

The majority of the stocks that make up the Sensex and Nifty Indian market indices closed in the red, resulting in significant losses for both. The Nifty dropped 254 points to its intraday low of 19,878.85, while the Sensex dropped 869 points to a low of 66,728.14 for the day. The Nifty closed at 19,901.40, below the 20,000-point threshold, while the Sensex experienced a 1.18 percent decline. The main causes of the decline were HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries. Mid- and small-cap stocks declined as well, but they outperformed the Sensex benchmark. Investors suffered a combined loss of almost Rs. 2.3 lakh crore as the market value of all companies listed on the BSE dropped to about Rs. 320.7 lakh crore.
