The famous Indian Tech-entrepreneur and founder of Infosys, Narayana Murthy has been making headlines for quite some time now for his statement regarding the working hours. Some time back, during a podcast, Narayana Murthy stated that the Indian youngsters should work 70 hrs per week as the productivity of Indian economy is already very low and if the country has to compete with other economies which have grown in the last 2-3 decades, then youngsters will need to work for more hours.
This started a new debate as many including the health experts feel that working for 70 or more hours will destroy the work-life balance and it will also create health issues even among youngsters.
Recently, Narayana Murthy’s wife Sudha Murthy attended an event in which she was asked about Narayana Murthy’s statement and this is what she said, “He has worked 80 to 90 hours a week, so, he doesn’t know what less than that is. He believes in real hard work and he lived like that. Hence, he has told what he felt. People have different ways of expression. But he lived like that, he walked the talk. So, he has shared his experience.”
