Madalsa Sharma, who portrayed the character of Kavya in the popular show Anupamaa, has officially announced her departure. The actress revealed that her role had lost its ‘spark’, leading to her decision to move on. Madalsa shared that the choice was made after discussions with the show’s producer, Rajan Shahi.
In an interview, Madalsa explained, “Kavya was initially portrayed as an independent and strong woman, pivotal in bringing turmoil to Anupama’s life. However, over the past year, I felt the storyline shifted focus away from Kavya, Vanraj, and Anupama, leaving little room for my character’s growth.”
Madalsa further stated that had Kavya continued to play her earlier grey-shaded role, she would have stayed. She added that despite efforts from the creative team to revamp her character, nothing seemed to work. As a result, she and Rajan Shahi mutually agreed it was time for her to exit the show.
Madalsa, who is married to Mimoh Chakraborty, also shared that her decision was supported by her family, including her father-in-law, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty. “My family felt that I should move on to pursue other opportunities and grow. I wanted to leave the show when my character was still loved by the audience,” she said.
Madalsa’s exit comes shortly after Sudhanshu Pandey who played Vanraj Shah also left the show. Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly in the lead role, remains one of the highest-rated television shows, featuring a stellar cast including Gaurav Khanna, Alpana Buch, and Nidhi Shah. Over time, several actors, including Paras Kalnawat and Aashish Mehrotra, have also parted ways with the show.
