The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-member Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 and they have certainly tried to keep a balance between the experienced and the youth.

While Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal have made a comeback in the Indian T20 team, the exclusion of Rinku Singh has left many disappointed. In the 15 T20Is that he has played, he scored 356 runs at a strike rate of 176.23 and in 11 innings, he remained not-out.

Rinku Singh has been kept in the reserves along with Shubman Gill, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan and the former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar feels that the decision of the selectors is based on the present performance of Rinku Singh in the ongoing IPL 2024.

Rinku Singh is currently playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 and this time, he hasn’t got many opportunities to play big knocks. During an interview, Sunil Gavaskar said, “Maybe his form in this particular edition of the IPL hasn’t been great. He hasn’t had that many opportunities, maybe that’s the reason why they’ve not picked him.”
