Sunil Narine’s Biggest Critic Kevin Pietersen Admits His Mistake On Live TV

The IPL 2024 came to an end with Kolkata Knight Riders lifting the trophy with the help of some superb performances of their players. There is no denying the fact that Sunil Narine performed like a superstar as he not only scored 488 runs but also took 17 wickets and he was adjudged as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

However, Sunil Narine was under a little pressure earlier because in the past couple of seasons, he wasn’t able to make any impact especially with the bat. After Gautam Gambhir became the mentor of the team, he made Sunil Narine open once again and it turned out to be a masterstroke.

Kevin Pietersen was not happy with Sunil Narine opening the innings and recently he admitted that he was completely wrong about Sunil. here is what KP said on a live show of a sports channel, “It is amazing, it really is amazing what he did, because I was one of the most vocal critics at the start of the tournament, saying I didn’t like Sunil Narine at the top of the order due to his inconsistency. He typically would hit a six and then get out, disrupting the momentum.”

He further added, “However, this season, especially over the last couple of months, he has been consistent. He’s thought like a batter, batted like a batter, and got the runs of a batter. He has averaged more than many batters and his strike rate has been phenomenal. He’s played both sides of the wicket exceptionally well. And, of course, we don’t need to say much about his bowling—he is an out-and-out superstar. His ability to change his action and still produce such impressive numbers is quite something. He is the heart and soul of this outfit, isn’t he?”

Matthew Hayden was also present in the show and he said that KP is simply saying that he was wrong about Sunil Narine.
