Comedian Sunil Pal has opened up about his harrowing experience of being allegedly kidnapped and held for ransom. Days after the incident, Pal disclosed that the kidnappers initially demanded Rs 20 lakh but eventually settled for Rs 7.5 lakh after negotiation. In an unusual twist, the abductors reportedly gave Pal Rs 20,000 to return home to Mumbai and promised to repay the ransom once they secured jobs.
Speaking to an entertainment portal, Sunil Pal recounted the ordeal, “They sent a car to pick me up from the Delhi airport. Everything seemed legitimate at first. But after reaching Meerut, I was forcibly transferred to another vehicle, blindfolded, and threatened with a poison-filled injection.”
The kidnappers demanded Rs 20 lakh for his release, but Pal managed to negotiate and transferred Rs 7.5 lakh into their accounts.
According to Pal, the kidnappers were unemployed and allegedly used the ransom money to purchase jewelry. Surprisingly, they handed him Rs 20,000 in cash to cover his travel expenses back to Mumbai, claiming they would repay the full amount once they found stable jobs. Pal described the experience as “terrifying.”
An FIR has been filed, and the case has been transferred to Meerut police for further investigation. Meerut SSP confirmed the development, stating, “We received a complaint from the jewellers and are investigating the case. Based on media reports, we have also communicated with Mumbai police, who are conducting their own investigation.”
The incident has sparked widespread attention and concern, with many expressing shock over the bizarre and alarming details of the abduction. As investigations continue, authorities are working to determine the full scope of the case.
