Sunita Ahuja, wife of actor Govinda, denied persistent divorce rumors and urged the media to stop such reports about the couple going to court.
Sunita, while speaking to ANI, addressed the alleged divorce reports: “If something had happened, then we would have been so close today. There would have been a distance between us. No one can separate us, not even if God comes from above… My Govinda is only mine and no one else’s. Until we open our mouths, please do not say anything on this…”
The rumors of a divorce began after Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, posted an emotional video on her YouTube account. Following the video, unverified rumors surfaced stating that Sunita had petitioned the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai for a divorce.
Govinda and Sunita’s daughter Tina Ahuja, in an interview with Hindustan Times, dismissed the ongoing chatter as nothing more than gossip. She said, “It’s all rumours,” she said, adding that she doesn’t let such speculation affect her. “I don’t pay attention to these rumours.”
While speaking about Govinda and Sunita’s reaction to the divorce reports, Tina said, “Kya bolun main (What should I say)? He is not even in the country.”
“I feel blessed to have a beautiful family, and I’m truly grateful for all the love, concern and support we’ve been receiving from the media, fans, and loved ones,” she added.
Govinda, known for iconic commercial hits like ‘Coolie No 1’, ‘Hero No 1’, ‘Haseena Maan Jayegi’, ‘Had Kar Di Aapne’ and ‘Jodi No 1’, has been missing in action for a while.
The actor’s latest theatrical release was ‘Rangeela Raja’
Later, some sources claimed that Sunita formally filed for divorce at the Bandra Family Court on December 5, 2024, citing cruelty, abandonment, and adultery. This report led to increased speculation surrounding the divorce.
Subsequently, during the recent Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai, Sunita and Govinda got together and addressed the rumors.
