Dayaben’s absence from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been a lingering mystery for years. Disha Vakani, who brought the beloved character to life, took maternity leave in 2017 and never returned to the show.
A few months ago, Asit Modi, the producer of the popular sitcom, confirmed in an interview that Disha would not be making a comeback. Now, fresh developments indicate that the long search for Dayaben’s replacement is close to completion.
An insider has revealed that after an extensive audition process, Asit Modi has finally found an actress who fits the role. While the identity of the selected actress remains undisclosed, it has been confirmed that she has been shortlisted to portray Daya, the energetic and lovable wife of Tappu Ke Papa, Jethalal. The production team has already begun conducting mock shoots with her to assess how well she embodies the character.
“Yes, it is right. Asit ji had been looking for a new Dayaben, and recently, one of the auditions impressed him a lot. Mock shoots with the actress are underway. It’s been around a week that she has been here, shooting with us,” shared the source.
With the mock shoots in progress, fans eagerly await an official announcement regarding the new Dayaben. If all goes well, the iconic character may soon return to entertain audiences once again.
