Tamil Nadu Celebrates Appointment of First Tribal Woman as Civil Judge

In Tamil Nadu, a 23-year-old woman has been appointed as the first Malayali judge in the Civil Court.

V Sripathy, a resident of Yelagiri Hills in the Thirupathur district, passed the TNPSC Civil Judge test. Sripathy is the eldest daughter of Kaliappan and Malliga, and was born at Thuvinjikuppam, which borders a restricted forest near Thiruvannamalai.

Chief Minister MK Stalin praised Sripathy’s achievement, saying, “It is encouraging to see a tribal girl from a poor hill village accomplish this at such a young age.”

The appointment of Sripathy as a judge is indicative of our government’s resolve to provide employment opportunities for educated Tamil people top priority. Thank you to her husband and mother for their support.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, the minister of sports for Tamil Nadu, also commended Sripathy’s tenacity.

“We are delighted that Sister Sripathy has been chosen as a Jurisprudence Judge through our government’s ordinance,” the DMK Minister declared. Her tenacity is admirable, especially in the face of difficult situations like taking the test just two days after giving birth.”
