Taiwanese Pegatron and Indian IT and consulting services company Tech Mahindra inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday to collaborate on the development of private 5G solutions for businesses. The agreement was struck by the two businesses during the current Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024).
“The partnership between the organisations will explore mutually beneficial opportunities in the fast-growing private 5G space, positioning it as a catalyst for business growth,” the organizations stated in a statement.
With Tech Mahindra providing end-to-end 5G services and Pegatron providing the 5G connection layer and private 5G devices, the agreement will allow the two businesses to jointly identify global potential.
Additionally, the companies want to employ 5G to speed up edge computing and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies’ adoption across a range of industries.
“We will successfully provide IT and network services to Pegatron,” stated Harshvendra Soin, president of Tech Mahindra’s Asia Pacific and Japan Business. “Our robust market presence, close ties with telcos, communication partners, and extensive expertise in global 5G4E [5G for enterprises] rollout.”
Pegatron, especially in the APJI region, will gain knowledge from Tech Mahindra on how to better develop its products based on local geographic, industrial, user, technological, and regulatory issues.
Additionally, Tech Mahindra and Pegatron will concentrate on enhancing communication in remote or catastrophe-prone areas and enhancing digital resilience for disaster response. Additionally, they want to provide solutions that leverage satellite connection and the 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) to first-line disaster relief teams.
“We are honoured to collaborate with Tech Mahindra, which will unlock opportunities for enterprises across the globe to experience this strong 5G product portfolio to create resilient and efficient network solutions around AI-led use cases that will help optimise their investments,” said Dr. Shue, chief technology officer of Pegatron.
