John Abraham’s geopolitical action drama Tehran will ultimately debut straight on ZEE5 via OTTplay Premium on August 14, 2025, following much conjecture regarding its release structure. Fans can now anticipate watching the movie from the comfort of their homes after it was delayed owing to distribution issues. The film was initially scheduled for a 2023 theatrical release.
Gritty action and intrigue are promised in the trailer
The official trailer, which the producers released on August 1, is full of dramatic scenes, high-stakes drama, and a strong performance by John Abraham. Three lethal explosions at the beginning of the plot raise the possibility of a widespread terrorist operation. John plays Delhi Police officer Rajeev Kumar, who is in full action mode.
That being said, Rajeev’s path is far from simple. He is seen in the trailer as pursued by Iran, deserted by India, and entangled in a convoluted web of espionage. The question of whether he is a true patriot or a traitor remains in the minds of viewers.
Star Power and Fan Reactions
The trailer has received a lot of positive feedback from fans. “Much better than War 2… this movie deserved a theatrical release,” one commenter remarked. “Tehran fire after Batla House and The Diplomat,” said another commenter.
Inspired by actual events, Tehran explores the political dynamics surrounding the 1977 Tehran coup and was directed by Arun Gopalan and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films in association with Bake My Cake Films.
The ensemble cast of the movie is further enhanced by the presence of Manushi Chhillar, Neeru Bajwa, and Madhurima Tuli. Tehran looks to be an exciting film to watch on Independence Day because of its captivating plot and fast-paced action.
