Telegram Introduces Chromecast Support for Android & Enhances Security Features

Telegram has released a new update packed with exciting features for Android users. One of the key highlights is Chromecast support, allowing users to seamlessly cast videos from the app to a larger screen. In addition, the update introduces several enhanced security features designed to protect users from spam and scams.

What’s New in the Telegram Update?

Telegram detailed these new features in a recent blog post, as part of its regular monthly updates. One major focus of this update is Telegram Stars, the platform’s virtual currency that can be used to support creators, unlock content, and access services in mini-apps. In India, 100 Stars are priced at ₹199.

For Android users, Telegram now offers Chromecast support, making it easier to stream videos on bigger screens. To use this feature, simply open a video, tap the settings button, and select Chromecast.

Enhanced Security Against Scams & Spam

To improve security, Telegram has added a new fraud detection page that appears before users respond to suspicious messages. This feature helps users spot potential scams and unusual activity before engaging with unknown contacts.

Additionally, Telegram is making changes to its Verification Platform, known as Telegram Gateway. This tool allows businesses and startups to verify customers’ phone numbers at a much lower cost than traditional SMS verification. After a 20% price cut, the service now costs $0.01 (around ₹0.80) per authentication. If a verification code is not delivered within a specified time, the company refunds the charge.

New Spam Control Feature

Telegram is also giving users more control over spam. A new monetization feature allows users to charge for messages received from contacts outside their network. This helps filter out spam while offering an opportunity to earn money from incoming messages.

With these new updates, Telegram continues to enhance user experience with better connectivity, security, and monetization options.
