“The Kashmir Files Got 7 Nominations At Filmfare & I’m Not Invited,” Says Producer

The Filmfare is certainly the biggest award event of the Indian movie industry but over the years, it has become quite controversial too as there are many who openly allege that the award function is rigged and the awards can easily be bought or obtained in exchange of a dance performance.

Though the awards ceremony has taken place yesterday (27 April 2023) at the Jio World Convention Center, Mumbai, controversies started just after the nominations were announced by the committee.

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri directed “The Kashmir Files” has been nominated in 7 categories but the director has made it clear that he won’t be attending the ceremony as he feels that it is an unethical and anti-cinema award. He tweets that as per Filmfare, other than stars, no one has a face and it treats writers, directors and other HODs & crew members of a film inferior to and/or as slaves to stars.

After Vivek Agnihotri, Abhishek Agarwal, the producer of “The Kashmir Files” has criticized the Filmfare and called them unfair. He also states that despite the fact that his movie is nominated in 7 categories, he hasn’t been invited to the function.

The Kashmir Files was made on a budget of Rs. 14 crore and it went on to earn more than Rs. 250 crore, the movie depicts the true and cruel story of Hindu genocide in the Kashmir valley in 1990s.
