Vishnu Manchu is eagerly awaiting the release of his highly anticipated movie, Kannappa, which boasts a stellar cast including Prabhas and Mohanlal in significant roles and is reportedly produced on a substantial budget exceeding Rs 200 crore. In a surprising revelation, Vishnu Manchu recently disclosed that neither of these prominent stars charged him a single rupee for their work in the film.
During a recent interview, Vishnu Manchu expressed his profound gratitude towards Prabhas and Mohanlal, stating that their selfless contributions were instrumental in shaping Kannappa into its current form.
While speaking in an interview, he shared, “Two people helped me greatly to make the film what it is today: Mohanlal and Prabhas. Mohanlal is such great superstar, he didn’t really have to do a small role in my film, but due to his love and respect for my father, he agreed to do the role in less than a minute.”
Vishnu Manchu further elaborated on Prabhas’s involvement, highlighting their close friendship. “Secondly, Prabhas. He is a great friend of mine. He is not just one of the biggest stars in India but Asia. He too didn’t have to do this role. But after I confessed to him that I would need his presence for a greater reach of my film, he agreed immediately. He didn’t even care to listen to his role in the film,” he added, underscoring Prabhas’s unwavering support.
The actor also shared an anecdote illustrating the depth of their generosity, recounting how Prabhas reacted to the mere suggestion of payment. “Both Prabhas and Mohanlal didn’t take a single penny to do the role. Every time I ask them to quote their fees, they would yell at me. They will say: ‘Itne bade aadmi ho gaye ho ki humein paise doge?’ Mohanlal said you grew up around me and today you dare to pay me for my work? Prabhas threatened to kill me,” Vishnu Manchu revealed, emphasizing the personal bond and respect that transcended monetary considerations.
He also mentioned that while Prabhas and Mohanlal worked pro bono, Akshay Kumar also significantly reduced his standard fees for the project.
