Italy is quite famous as a travelling destination among tourists but currently it is in news for all the wrong reasons and one incident has happened which has angered many especially the tourists.
A British tourist narrated an incident which took place in a restaurant in Italy and it has left the whole world talking. The concerned person visited a restaurant named Bar Pace in Lake Como where he ordered a veg toasted sandwich, fries, espresso, coca cola and water. As the person was with his friend, he asked the staff to cut the sandwich in two parts and it was done by the staff but the tourist got a rude shock when he found that the restaurant charged €2 (Rs. 182) for cutting the sandwich into half.
The tourist didn’t say anything at that time, left the restaurant and then he wrote about this incident on a travel portal. He also uploaded the image of the receipt for proof in which you can see “Diviso a meta” written in Italian and this means cutting in half.
The tourist wrote, “There were two of us and we asked for a toasted sandwich to share at the table. We have to pay because the toast was cut in half?”
Later on, the owner of the restaurant, Cristina Biaachi defended her restaurant while speaking to an Italian newspaper. She said, “Additional requests have a cost. We had to use two plates instead of one and the time to wash them is doubled, and then two placemats. It wasn’t a simple toasted sandwich, there were also French fries inside. It took us time to cut it in two.”
Cristina also said that she would have removed the charges if the customer had made a complaint at that time.
The customer may have not complained but charging him for cutting a sandwich in half is not correct, what do you think?
