The game of cricket offers a wide range of opportunities to the cricketers, first they can show their talent on the field and after retirement, they can either take up jobs (coach, support staff, etc.) offered by their respective cricket board or the cricket boards of other nations or they can take up commentary jobs.
But there are some cricketers who are not so lucky and they face difficult situations in life because of which they have to take up jobs which are completely unrelated to cricket.
Would you believe if we tell you that a cricketer who represented his country for 7 years at the international level, played 2011 ODI World Cup final, was Dhoni’s teammate in Chennai Super Kings is living his life as a bus driver today?
We are talking about Suraj Randiv! The former Sri Lankan cricketer made his debut in 2009 as he was selected in the team to replace Muttiah Muralitharan. He was part of the Sri Lankan squad which played the 2011 World Cup final which Sri Lanka lost to India and he also played for CSK in the IPL. Suraj Randiv played for his country till 2016 but things changed so much in his life that currently he is employed as a bus driver in a company named Transdev in Australia.
Life is very unpredictable, isn’t it?
