Asit Kumarr Modi, the creator of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), has officially confirmed that the much-loved character of Dayaben will soon be returning to the show. In a recent interview, he shared that the team is actively working to bring back the charm and liveliness associated with the iconic character, who has been missing from the series for several years.
“We will definitely bring back the character of Daya Bhabhi. People say they haven’t enjoyed the show since Daya Bhabhi’s departure. I completely agree. Our entire team is trying to bring back the character of Daya Bhabhi to the show soon,” he said in an interview.
Asit Kumarr Modi also revealed that the search for a new Dayaben is well underway. He has already shortlisted a few actors who could potentially take on the role made famous by Disha Vakani and is planning to meet them in the near future.
“I have shortlisted some people for this role, and you will meet them soon. It’s been five years since Disha left the show, and we still miss her. She cared deeply for her fellow actors and the crew. Our goal is to find someone like Disha Vakani,” he added.
Disha Vakani’s portrayal of Dayaben became one of the defining elements of the long-running sitcom, and fans have been eagerly awaiting her return or a worthy successor ever since her absence began. Now, it seems the wait may finally be coming to an end.
