An explosion at a Tata Steel plant in Meramundali, Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, left at least 19 people injured. The victims were taken to a hospital in Cuttack after the incident happened on June 13 at 1:00 pm (IST) when inspection work was being carried out.
A statement from Tata Steel read, “We regret to inform you of a steam escape accident at the BFPP2 power plant at the Tata Steel Meramandali Works in Dhenkanal, Odisha. A few workers at the site were injured in the mishap, which happened today at 1:00 PM (IST) while the inspection work was underway. The injured workers were promptly sent to a hospital for additional care. All emergency procedure services were alerted right away following the mishap, and the area has now been roped off.”
19 patients from Tata Steel’s Meramandali factory in Dhenkanal were sent here due to a gas leak at the plant in Odisha. They’ve all been burned. Two of the 19 patients also had fractures, and six of them have burns that are more than 40%. One patient has above 70% burns and is receiving care in the ICU, according to Subrat Jena of Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack.
They were immediately sent to the plant’s occupational health center, and later, in their rescue vehicle, they were finally transported to Cuttack for more treatment. A specialist and paramedics joined them at this point.
