“Nine bodies have been found there, and two passengers are still missing. They could have continued to roll into the gorge. Soon, a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) will also travel there.

Subdivisional magistrate of Didihat, Anil Kumar Shukla, had earlier stated that the district administration had not yet confirmed the casualty counts. According to Shukla, a Jeep was travelling to the Kokila Devi shrine in Hokra while transporting pilgrims from the Sama hamlet in the Bageshwar district.

An obstruction in the flow of traffic was caused by boulders and other debris that had fallen on the road due to heavy rains the previous night, according to Sundar Singh, a resident of Hokara village.

When pilgrims died, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences. “We have received very sad news regarding the numerous fatalities caused by the collision of a car travelling from Shama in Bageshwar to Nachni in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.
