Due to an unanticipated dengue epidemic in the villages close to the Sepahijala district, the health authorities in Tripura have issued a dengue alert for the entire state. According to Dr. Supriya Mallik, the director of preventive medicine, 182 people have been admitted to hospitals as of Friday for treatment.

There is no need to panic, he reassured, adding that the government has made every effort to prevent the disease. He acknowledged that Subhas Sarkar, 72, of Dhanpur, Sonamura, died in a private hospital three days ago after developing a high fever and loose stools, but added, “We are re-investigating the reports to determine whether he died of Dengue or other infections.”

The experts visited the village, according to Dr. Mallik, and discovered the presence of Aedes mosquitoes in the home. A substantial number of Aedes mosquito larvae have been found in stored water and rubber plantations as a result of the increase in Aedes mosquito breeding brought on by the buildup of water in open spaces. The necessary preparations have been done to reduce the number of dengue cases by stopping this mosquito reproducing. Since its initial discovery in the state in 2015, dengue has mostly impacted visitors from Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai. Dengue, however, becomes a threat to Tripura because of changes in vectors brought on by the environment, he noted.

The health service has implemented a number of measures to address the outbreak. According to UNI, they have intensified door-to-door testing, run dengue awareness programs, and set up medical camps in the impacted areas. Along with other preventive measures, the state administration has deployed medical teams to inspect tourists arriving from Bangladesh at all border land ports. 37 Dengue patients from Dhanpur were admitted to the Agartala Govt Medical College hospital, then they were moved to a specific Covid hospital, claims Dr. Mallik. A total of 158 positive dengue cases were recorded in Dhanpur, and about 24 cases were found in West Tripura’s Kanchanmala, Mohanpur, and Bamutia.
