Officials said a two-foot-long baby crocodile was found in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s swimming pool in Dadar early Tuesday.
According to a local body release, a sanitation worker inspected the Olympic-sized Mahatma Gandhi Jaltaran Talao at 5:30 am before it was opened to members.
After the rescue, the BMC will release the reptile into its natural habitat with the forest department.
Deputy municipal commissioner Kishor Gandhi announced that “an investigation is underway to determine how the crocodile ended up in the swimming pool, and on the basis of it, necessary action will be taken.”
Sandeep Vaishampayan, the civic organization’s pool and auditorium coordinator, said concerned employees inspect pools daily before opening them to members.
He said, “A crocodile was seen in the Olympic-size swimming pool in Dadar around 5.30 am.”
