A scientific study says that unborn babies’ listening and learning in the final 10 weeks of pregnancy was echoed long ago in our Indian Garbh Sanskar’s ancient wisdom.
According to a recent study, unborn babies (between 16 and 22 weeks of pregnancy) can not only hear sounds inside the mother’s body, like the heartbeat, but also after the 23rd week of pregnancy are able, to listen to their mothers talk and other sounds from outside the womb.
The brain and sensory mechanisms of unborn babies are around 80% accomplished and they can listen and learn during the last 10 weeks of pregnancy, effectively.
Doctors have observed that ultrasounds have caught changes in babies’ facial expressions when they hear music. The babies, at birth, usually demonstrate this trait of what they’ve heard in the womb- Crying newborns get easily calmed and respond positively as soon as they hear their mother’s voice.
What science has discovered today; our ancient Indian wisdom had unlocked ages ago- The tradition of an age-old practice from India known as Garbh Sanskar, meaning educating an unborn child. The concept is rooted in the belief that the unborn child can perceive and absorb positive energies and emotions inside the mother’s womb.
Garbh Sanskar emphasizes the significance of Garbhsamvad or what we call today ‘Baby Talk’ and the practice of a few simple activities that contribute towards the social, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being of both mother and child.
The recent study also concluded that if the right external stimulation is given, unborn babies have an infinite capacity to grow his or her minds and senses. They can recognize words and sounds while in the womb. Now you can understand why our grandmas used to force us to read and listen to religious texts, positive talks and motivational lectures by learned gurus. Their theory was not at all unscientific. Rather the theory indicates that babies while listening to their parents’ voices, soothing music, and engaging stories, get early exposure to language and positive inspirations- laying the foundation for an early language skill and mental development. Additionally, it also fosters a strong parent-child relationship.
Researchers have proven that the mother’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being during pregnancy deeply impacts the fetus’s growth and development, highlighting the importance of practices like Garbh Sanskar that promote positivity and harmony.
All parents especially mothers need to remember are the key components of Grabh Sanskar. i.e. balanced diet & nutrition, meditation and prenatal yoga, positive thinking and affirmations, spiritual and moral development, prenatal education, engaging in creative activities, etc. The practice of Grabh Sanskar can begin on any day or month of pregnancy.
By incorporating ancient wisdom into modern prenatal care, parents can nurture unborn babies in the best possible way.
