A shocking incident has come to light in Varanasi in which two sisters were living with their mother’s dead body for more than a year.
The girls have been identified as Pallavi Tripathi (27) and Vaishvik Tripathi (18) and they lived in the Mandarwa locality of the city. As per the police, their mother took her last breath in December 2022 but the girls didn’t perform her last rites and kept the body in their house. As far as their father is concerned, he had left the home 2 years back and didn’t even return at the time of his wife’s death.
Though the neighbours didn’t sense anything wrong earlier, they got suspicious when the girls didn’t come out of the house for around a week. The neighbours contacted the police yesterday when the girls didn’t react even after they knocked on the door.
The police officers also knocked on the door but when nobody opened, they broke the door and got shocked after seeing the decomposed body of the mother lying on the floor. The girls were also sitting next to the body, as of now they have been taken into custody.
The police officials stated that the girls are mentally unstable and earlier they used to go out for buying groceries and other items and they have borrowed some money from their neighbours as well. When the girls were asked as to how they lived with their mother’s dead body despite the foul smell, they said that they used to cover the body with cloth and spent most of their time on the terrace.
The police official further revealed that the neighbours had no knowledge of the girls living with the mother’s dead body, the skeleton has been sent for post-mortem and in their opinion, there is no criminal angle in this matter.
