Anil Sharma’s film Singh Saab The Great, released in 2013, featured Sunny Deol, Amrita Rao, and Urvashi Rautela. This film marked Urvashi Rautela’s debut, casting her opposite the significantly older Sunny Deol. Recently, in an interview with iDiva, Urvashi discussed the 38-year age gap between her and Sunny Deol in the movie. She revealed her upcoming project with veteran actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, who is in his 60s, will set a new record for age difference in Indian cinema.
On being questioned if acting opposite Sunny Deol at 19 felt bizarre, Urvashi said, “It is the biggest age-gap in the history of Bollywood, correct me if I’m wrong. We had a 38-year age-gap. I was younger than his sons, as well. But if the director thinks there’s no problem, it’s okay.” She further mentioned that her upcoming film, NBK 109, a major South Indian production, will surpass this record, pairing her with Nandamuri Balakrishna in a high-budget action film.
She said, “I’m paired opposite Balakrishna garu, and between us, the age gap is… He’s in his 60s or 70s, and it’s the biggest age-gap in the history of Indian cinema.” She also expressed her views on age-gap in movies, “The more the age gap is, it benefits the film. The older a star is, the more fans they have. Cinema-wise, it benefits the film a lot, but personal-wise, of course it doesn’t.”
Directed by Bobby Kolli and produced by Naga Vamsi under Sitara Entertainments, NBK 109 boasts an ensemble cast, including Bobby Deol, Ravi Kishen, Dulquer Salmaan, Prakash Raj, and Payal Rajput. The film is touted as a high-octane action entertainer, with Bobby Deol reportedly playing the antagonist, wrapping up his role in August.
