Veg thali costs more than non-veg thali; Check out the reason

A vegetarian thali has become 34% more expensive month over month because to the alarming rise in tomato prices, according to a study by grading agency Crisil. According to the company’s “Roti Rice report,” non-vegan thalis were typically less affected in the long run in July than in June, despite the price of thali preparation rising just 13%. According to the research, tomato prices increased significantly month over month, rising from Rs 33 per kg in June to Rs 110 per kg in July, an increase of 233% per kg.

According to Crisil, the typical cost of putting together a thali at home is calculated in consideration of the input costs present in north, south, east, and west India. The study for August stated that “the costs of onion and potato soared 16% and 9% month-on-month, separately, offering further evidence of the expansion in cost.”

Other components, such as cumin and chile, also proved to be more expensive, with their prices increasing by 69% and 16%, respectively, month over month. According to Crisil, this is the third month in a row that inflation has increased thali prices. This is also the first time this fiscal year that prices have increased from an on-year perspective.

According to the research, the increase in the price of both thalis was somewhat mitigated by a 2% monthly drop in the price of vegetable oil.

While tomato prices, which in Delhi have reached $300 per kg despite the government selling it at a discount, will likely start to decline seriously only in September, there is a risk that cereal prices, particularly rice, will rise more than they did in August and September of 2022.

Conclusion:-

According to a survey by Crisil, the price of tomatoes has climbed by 34% on a monthly basis, increasing the cost of vegetarian thalis. According to the “Roti Rice report,” non-vegan thalis in July were typically less impacted over the long run than they were in June. Prices for tomatoes increased by 233% per kg, from Rs 33 in June to Rs 110 in July. Input prices in north, south, east, and west India affect the typical cost of setting up a thali at home. Onion and potato prices increased 16% and 9% month over month, respectively. Other commodities like cumin and chile saw price increases of 69% and 16% month over month. Thaali prices have increased for the first time this fiscal year, for the third straight month, as a result of inflation. Vegetable oil’s 2% monthly drop offered some relief from the rise in both thalis.
