Vidya Balan is set to reprise her iconic role as Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, nearly two decades after the first film captivated audiences. Sharing the screen with Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri and Madhuri Dixit, Vidya’s return marks a thrilling reunion with director Anees Bazmee, who shared insights into why she wasn’t part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
Speaking at a recent event, Anees Bazmee opened up about Vidya Balan’s decision to step away from the 2022 sequel. He mentioned how he had envisioned Vidya Balan reprising her role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 alongside Kartik Aaryan but respected her decision when she declined. “It was my dream to have Vidya ji in the sequel. But she refused me,” he shared candidly. Bazmee even asked her to share the trailer of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 on her social media, and her positive response sparked the idea for her eventual return in the third film.
Vidya Balan explained her concerns about returning for the sequel, noting she was uncertain if she could bring justice to her memorable role. “I was scared because the first Bhool Bhulaiyaa gave me so much. I thought, ‘If I make a mistake, it will be over.’ I couldn’t take that risk,” she said. However, when Bazmee and producer Bhushan Kumar approached her with the script for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Vidya was excited to be involved, expressing her eagerness to work on the project.
Directed by Anees Bazmee, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is set for release on November 1, 2024, with high anticipation among fans of the franchise. Adding to the excitement, the film will clash at the box office with Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, setting the stage for a major Bollywood showdown.
