Vikrant Massey Retired Because Of The Threats He Got For His 9 Months Old Son?

Vikrant Massey’s unexpected announcement of his retirement from acting on December 1, 2024, has left fans grappling with heartbreak. While his Instagram post emphasized his decision to focus on his roles as a husband, father and son, resurfacing details about threats targeting his 9-month-old son, Vardhaan, have added a new dimension to the story.

During the promotion of his latest film, The Sabarmati Report, Vikrant revealed his distress over threats received on social media and WhatsApp. Speaking to a news portal, the actor shared his fears, especially for his infant son:

“Mujhe mere social media, WhatsApp pe threat aa rahe hain. Yeh log jaante hain ki main 9 mahine pehle ek bacche ka pita bana hoon. Mera baccha jo theek se chal bhi nahi pata, uska naam beech mein liya ja raha hai.”

Vikrant expressed frustration about such incidents, questioning societal norms while reiterating his commitment to standing by his artistic choices:

“Agar dar lagta, toh hum yeh film banake bahar laate hi nahi” (If I were scared, we wouldn’t have made this film and brought it to the public).

Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, The Sabarmati Report revisits the 2002 Godhra train burning tragedy and its aftermath. Starring Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna, and Riddhi Dogra, the film addresses a sensitive subject, which has drawn both praise and criticism.

Released on November 15, the film has collected ₹22 crore nationally and has been declared tax-free in states like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. The movie was screened at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024, earning accolades from critics and audiences alike.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently met the cast, lauding their efforts to shed light on the incident.

The news of Vikrant stepping away from acting comes as he rides a wave of success. For fans, the thought of losing such a talented artist—especially after his exceptional performances in films like 12th Fail and Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba—is disheartening. Many are now speculating whether the increasing pressures and threats may have influenced his decision.

If he has taken this decision because of the threats then we have certainly failed as a society.
