Viksit Bharat: How Gujarat leads the way in India’s infrastructure development

A nation’s success and prosperity depend on its infrastructure. Well-organized and efficient infrastructure stimulates economic and social growth and elevates the state and nation. Gujarat shows how a state may become a national development model by building world-class infrastructure. The 2003 “Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit,” led by then-Chief Minister Narendra Modi, transformed Gujarat’s economy and preserved world-class industrial infrastructure. Gujarat has excelled in road, rail, port, and airport connections over the past 20 years.

Narendra Modi often says that a country’s infrastructure determines its economic direction. He implemented this idea as Gujarat’s Chief Minister, focusing on road connections throughout the state. This comprises rural, tribal, coastal, and industrial locations. Gujarat has a world-class road network thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, benefiting the present and future. In addition to road infrastructure, Gujarat has better rail connectivity and strategic planning than the rest of the country. The state-run Gujarat Rail Infrastructure Development Limited (G-RIDE) is connecting railways to industrial areas, ports, and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. This project increased the state’s global export competitiveness. For India’s first bullet train, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor project is moving quickly. Gujarat is a major industrial and economic actor due to its port access. Gujarat has achieved significant port connection advancements from building India’s first commercial port to building modern greenfield ports.

Gujarat handles almost 40% of the nation’s freight due to its excellent port facilities. Gujarat leads India in merchandise exports due to its excellent port facilities. The world’s first CNG terminal and Brownfield port at Bhavnagar, Gujarat, would boost Gujarat’s economy and give India several business prospects. Power sector strengthening is the top priority now. Nearly every small and large commercial or social process requires electricity. Gujarat is proud that it has been a “Power Surplus State” for one and a half decades despite meager resources. Gujarat prides itself on being ahead of the curve. Examples include our rising renewable energy capacity to meet current and future energy needs. Gujarat’s power sector approach appears to be far-sighted, from the country’s first solar park in Charanka in 2012 to the world’s largest hybrid renewable energy park in Kutch. Gujarat’s industrial infrastructure changed when Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed large-scale investment and industrial zones.

This was achieved in 2009 with the Special Investment Regions (SIR) Act. This single state government initiative has spawned multiple future-ready mega projects in Gujarat, including GIFT City, Dholera SIR, Mandal Bechraji SIR, PCPIR, and DREAM City. These initiatives have made Gujarat a sector-specific industrial infrastructure powerhouse. Today, GIFT City in Gujarat accommodates worldwide financial events. Dholera SIR’s greenfield and smart city features are attracting manufacturing investors. Mandal Becharaji SIR is a hotspot for automakers, whereas PCPIR attracts chemical and petrochemical investments. Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes India has the resources and capacity to become a “Viksit Bharat @2047” in 25 years. I’m convinced that Gujarat’s strong physical and industrial infrastructure will help him achieve his ambitious aim and open many new economic prospects for the nation in the years to come.

Conclusion:-

Infrastructure development in Gujarat under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed its economy and ensured the sustainability of world-class industrial infrastructure. Road, rail, and port connectivity have helped Gujarat’s economy, which handles 40% of India’s freight. A Power Surplus State, it prioritizes renewable energy and large-scale investment zones. The 2009 Special Investment Regions Act created megaprojects including GIFT City, Dholera SIR, Mandal Bechraji SIR, PCPIR, and DREAM City, making Gujarat a centre for sector-specific industrial infrastructure. This strong infrastructure will help Modi achieve his aim and provide new economic prospects.
