The men’s team of Royal Challengers Bangalore failed in winning a single IPL title in the last 16 years but the women’s team managed to script history by winning their first ever WPL trophy in the second season of the tournament.
Smriti Mandhana-led RCB defeated Meg Lannning-led Delhi Capitals in the finale of the tournament which was played yesterday at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley stadium by 8 wickets and lifted their first ever WPL trophy.
It was an unbelievable moment for the RCB fans as many of them were tired of hoping to see their team win the trophy for the last 16 years and majority of them came out on roads to celebrate the big moment.
Virat Kohli, the star player of RCB who has been associated with the team since the inaugural edition of 2008 and has also served as the skipper, called Smriti Mandhana, the skipper of women’s RCB team and congratulated her as well as the whole team.
The official handle of RCB posted a photo which showed Virat Kohli having a video call with Smriti Mandhana:
Later on, Virat Kohli praised the RCB women team by calling them “Superwomen” on his Instagram Stories:
Congratulations to the RCB women team for scripting history!
