Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma React To Tragic Ahmedabad Air Crash

The city of Ahmedabad was struck by tragedy on Thursday, June 12, when a passenger aircraft crash claimed the lives of 241 individuals. The devastating incident drew reactions of shock and sorrow from across India, including from prominent cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Air India confirmed that all 241 passengers and crew aboard its London-bound flight perished when the 12-year-old Boeing 787-8 aircraft crashed into the city’s civil hospital and BJ Medical College. The crash occurred mere seconds after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport. Among the deceased were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national. Remarkably, one British national survived the horrific event.

Virat Kohli took to social media to express his grief, stating, “Shocked to hear about the plane crash at Ahmedabad today. Prayers for all those affected and thoughts with their families.” ODI captain Rohit Sharma also shared his dismay, calling the news “really sad and disturbing.” He added, “Really sad and disturbing news from Ahmedabad. Prayers for all the lives lost and their families.”

Air India further stated that the sole survivor, an Indian national, is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. The ill-fated aircraft had departed from Ahmedabad at 1:38 PM, carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members.
