The merger of Vodafone and CK Hutchison’s British businesses is expected to be announced soon. The tie-up will create the largest mobile operator in the UK.
A long-awaited announcement about the merger of Vodafone and CK Hutchison’s British businesses is anticipated as early as this Friday or the start of next week.
According to one of the individuals, the ownership structure of the agreed-upon deal—which was reached through changing the ownership of debt rather than trading cash—is consistent with Vodafone’s statement from last October, with the British business holding 51% and Hutchison having 49%.
Analysts estimate that the deal’s total worth, including debt, might be approximately 15 billion pounds ($18.6 billion). Hutchison choose not to respond. Vodafone did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
With roughly 27 million users, the combined company will surpass BT’s EE and VM O2, which are owned by Telefonica and Liberty Global. Regulators who have previously resisted agreements that cut the number of networks in big markets from four to three will closely monitor the arrangement.
