Wall Collapse at Gokulpuri Delhi Metro Station Leaves One Dead, Three Injured

At Gokulpuri Metro Station on the Pink Line in northeast Delhi, a section of the boundary wall fell on Thursday, resulting in one death.  Around 11:00 AM, there was an incident, and a few persons suffered minor injuries. A 53-year-old man has been identified as the deceased. The relatives of the deceased will receive compensation of Rs 15 lakh, according to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). 

Also, the DMRC declared that individuals with severe injuries would receive Rs 2.5 lakh, while those with slight injuries would receive Rs 50,000. 

The person was buried behind the wreckage, according to the report by ANI, which cited the Delhi Fire Service. This called for an immediate rescue effort.

At Gokulpuri metro station, a side slab of the operating metro line fell today, according to the Delhi Fire Service authorities at first. The event resulted in one person being hurt. He was taken in a hurry to a local hospital.

Police And Locals Act Quickly

At least three to four persons were hurt, according to DCP (northeast), Joy Tirkey, who was also mentioned in the newspaper. While several people only had minor injuries, one individual was severely hurt and trapped behind the wreckage.”

The trapped victim, who was reportedly riding a scooter at the time of the fall, was successfully rescued thanks to quick action taken by police and members of the public. The sufferer received emergency medical attention and was taken to GTB Hospital right away.

The same article states that attempts are being made to remove the debris from the street. The task has been aided by the deployment of excavators. There were also employees from Delhi Metro and local police officers on the scene. The DCP went on to state that a case related to the occurrence has been filed under the applicable provisions. 

DMRC Eliminates Two Employees

Due of the fall, the carriers also suspended two of its officials. According to a DMRC statement, “Two DMRC officials, a manager and a junior engineer from the civil department, have been immediately suspended.”

To put the required procedures in place intended to avert such regrettable incidents in the future, the DMRC will look into the facts surrounding this incident.
