“We Are All Big Fat Liars”, Karan Johar Admits Box-Office Numbers Are Fudged

In a recent interview, the famous movie maker Karan Johar candidly addressed several hot-button issues in the film industry, including inflated box office figures, casting practices, and the honesty of celebrity film reviews.

When asked about the ongoing speculation regarding the accuracy of box office numbers, Karan confirmed the rumors. “Yes, numbers are fudged, true,” he stated. He openly acknowledged that such practices exist in the industry, validating a widely-held belief.

The discussion then shifted to casting in films, where Karan Johar denied that actors are chosen solely based on their talent. “No,” he replied. He explained that factors like box office potential and popularity often overshadow pure talent. Johar also reflected on his own career, admitting, “There are more talented filmmakers than me who don’t get the chance to make movies. I’m privileged and grateful for that.”

When it came to the topic of stars sharing honest opinions in film reviews on social media, Karan was equally frank. He interrupted the host, declaring, “No, we are all liars. We are all big, fat liars,” revealing that celebrities may not always be truthful when praising films on platforms like Twitter.
