Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), the apartments were constructed. Additionally, the Yogi Adityanath opened 226 city development projects.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, today handed over the keys to 76 low-income apartments that were constructed on land that had belonged to the politician and deceased gangster Atiq Ahmed in Prayagraj. The apartments were constructed as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), and they were distributed on June 9 through a lottery. He engaged with youngsters at the location of the apartments that were given to the recipients and also looked at the apartments for the underprivileged.

Additionally, the Chief Minister opened 226 city development projects.

“This is the same state where, prior to 2017, any mob could seize the property of the underprivileged, successful businesspeople, or even public institutions. The impoverished were powerless to do then but turn away. Currently, we are developing inadequate housing on the same

For only 3.5 lakh, beneficiaries would receive a flat measuring 41 square meters. According to officials, a two-bedroom flat with a kitchen and bathroom costs $65,000, according to news agency ANI.

“In the Allahabad Medical Association’s auditorium, the lottery for allocation was drawn.”Of the 6,030 applicants who were verified, 1,590 were determined to be qualified to take part in the lottery,” stated Arvind Kumar Chauhan, vice chairman of the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA).

On December 26, 2021, Yogi Adityanath set the cornerstone for this affordable home project on a plot of land measuring 1,731 square meters in the Lukerganj neighborhood of Prayagraj after reclaiming it from Atiq Ahmed. Atiq Ahmed was charged with the 2005 murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal as well as the February 2018 murder of Umesh Pal, a crucial witness in that case. On April 15 night of this year, when they were being escorted for a medical check in Prayagraj, he and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot and killed on live television by individuals acting as journalists.

Mob attacks BJP office during Rahul Gandhi’s Manipur visit, police used tear gas

Police used tear gas after a mob damages the BJP office in the Bishnupur district during Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

On June 29, at around 4 PM, a sizable crowd, including youngsters, attacked the BJP office in the Bishnupur district.

An angry mob burned effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and CM Biren Singh in front of the Bishnupur district police station at around 4 PM, damaging the BJP office and denouncing the obstruction Congress leader Rahul Gandhi experienced while travelling from Moirang to Churachanpur.

According to sources, the mob attempted to set the local BJP office on fire, and in the process, half of the office was damaged. On the other side, police stopped and scattered them with numerous rounds of tear gas shells.

The crowd chanted “Narendra Modi Down Down, Amit Shah Down Down” as well. In a separate incident, police deployed multiple bursts of tear gas to disperse a mob that had formed near the BJP regional office in Imphal, Manipur.

This comes after tens of thousands of people protested the killing of two people in the Haraothel village, which is adjacent to the Kangpokpi district, on the streets.

In the evening, one of the bodies was taken to the Khwairamband Women’s Market in the centre of the city. Following this, a sizable crowd, including women, gathered to mourn the deceased from various Imphal neighborhoods.

Many people apparently attempted to remove the police roadblock so that Rahul Gandhi could pass freely, however Bishnupur District police officers stopped Rahul Gandhi’s convoy and police fired a number of tear gas shells to scatter the Congress leader’s followers.

In a television interview, MPCC President K Meghachandra stated that the police action of obstructing Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Churachanpur district was a breach of Indian democratic norms.

Meghachandra remarked that Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Manipur was intended to create peace and togetherness. Later, the Congress leader travelled by helicopter to Churachanpur, where he met with various leaders, spoke with the stranded citizens, and assessed the situation.

The Congress leader will meet with several civil society organisation, student leaders, and stakeholders on June 30 at the Hotel Imphal in Sangai Hall to explore ways to promote peace in the state.

The leader will probably also go to the valley’s refugee camps to assess the situation. Former Chief Minister O. Ibobi, MPCC President K Meghachandra, MLAs Th. Lokeshor and K. Ranjit, former MLA I. Hemochandra, and N. Loken Singh were in attendance with Rahul Gandhi.

Meta announces new ads & personalised message feature for WhatsApp Business

0

Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, strives to integrate its platforms. The company focuses equal functionality across platforms and pushes upgrades that connect platforms. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced in a recent update that the firm will soon create a solution that would allow companies to advertise on WhatsApp using Facebook and Instagram to find new customers.

Zuckerberg announced a new feature for WhatsApp Business, which has 200 million users, on Facebook. This new functionality will allow small companies to engage with their consumers via WhatsApp business accounts and effortlessly drive them to product advertisements on Facebook and Instagram without the requirement for other platforms to register accounts.

“Within the next few weeks, the WhatsApp Business app’s 200 million+ users will be able to create Facebook and Instagram ads to find and connect with new customers without requiring a Facebook account.” In addition, we’re unveiling new paid messaging services to help small companies engage customers more effectively,” Zukerberg stated in his piece.

According to Meta’s official statement, once the functionality is available, businesses will be able to create, purchase, and post a Facebook or Instagram ad straight within the WhatsApp Business app. This means that the company will not need a Facebook account. They will instead want an email address and a means of payment.

Customers will be able to see these advertising on the WhatsApp business account once the ad goes live. They may then click on an ad to enter a WhatsApp discussion where they can ask questions, view items, and make purchases straight through the platform. These additions, according to Meta, will help organizations drive more clients and prospects to the WhatsApp for Business platform.

“These ads are one of the most powerful ways to drive potential customers to message them on WhatsApp, and this will open new opportunities for WhatsApp-only small businesses that need a simpler way to get started with advertising,” according to the company’s statement.

Meta is exploring a WhatsApp Business app feature in addition to helping firms acquire customers through ads. This tool lets small businesses send customized welcomes to clients.

“Beginning soon, we’ll begin testing a new feature within the WhatsApp Business app that will allow small businesses to send personalized messages to their customers – such as appointment reminders, birthday greetings, or even holiday sale updates – in a faster and more efficient manner,” Meta said.

This new tool allows businesses to send bespoke messages with customizable call-to-action buttons. These communications might target “VIP customers” or “new customers.” Organizations may also schedule and evaluate these messages to identify which methods work best.

Meta said WhatsApp Business will charge for this advanced feature. The group will reveal price and implementation details later.

Conclusion:

Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is combining its platforms to improve user experience. Small businesses may now create Facebook and Instagram advertising without a Facebook account using WhatsApp Business, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Businesses may create, buy, and post advertising on WhatsApp Business with just an email address and payment method. These advertising let customers ask inquiries, examine things, and buy over WhatsApp. Meta wants to test a WhatsApp Business app feature that lets small companies send personalized messages to consumers, such as appointment reminders, birthday wishes, and seasonal sales reports.

This feature will allow businesses to send unique messages with customer names and customizable call-to-action buttons, tailored to specific consumer groups. The service will be offered for a fee within the WhatsApp Business app, with further details on pricing and implementation to be provided in the future.

Google Announces Termination of News Access in Canada Due to Publisher Payment Law

0

In a move that joins Facebook in intensifying a campaign against a new law demanding payments to local news publishers, Google announced on Thursday that it intends to restrict Canadian news on its platform in Canada.

When the law takes effect in roughly six months, Alphabet-owned Google will delete references to Canadian news from search results and other goods in Canada.

Following the adoption of Bill C-18, often known as the Online News Act, Facebook owner Meta Platforms issued a comparable declaration the previous week.

The media sector in Canada has advocated for more stringent oversight of Internet behemoths so that media outlets may make up for the financial losses they sustained when Facebook and Google increased their market share of online advertising.

Last year, it was projected by Canada’s independent budget watchdog that transactions required by the legislation might bring in around CAD 330 million (about Rs. 20,436 crores) annually for news businesses.

The platforms do not instantly have any obligations under the legislation, according to Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez, who introduced the law last year. He also stated that the government was willing to consult with the platforms on the regulation and implementation process.

Facebook and Google declared the measures unworkable for their companies and hinted for months that news distribution in Canada may halt unless the act was changed.

The federal government of Canada has resisted calls for reform, and in June, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau charged the businesses with employing “bullying tactics.”

“Big tech would rather spend money changing their platforms to prevent Canadians from accessing good quality and local news,” Rodriguez said in a statement on Thursday. “Big tech would rather pay their fair share to news organisation.”

This demonstrates how utterly careless and out of touch they are, especially considering that they profit enormously from Canadian users.

Google has said that the law in Canada is more expansive than those in Australia and Europe because it charges for links to news stories that are featured in search results and because it can apply to media entities that do not generate news.

The dominant search engine has suggested that payments be based on the distribution of news content rather than links, and that only organisations that create news in accordance with journalistic standards should be considered.

Guidelines Issued by Delhi University for PM Modi’s Visit: No Black Dresses and Compulsory Attendance

0

Some Delhi University institutions have set rules for the live telecast of the varsity’s centenary festivities, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend, including no black clothes, mandatory attendance, and class suspension from 10 am to 12 pm.

On June 30, Modi will be the chief guest at the Delhi University’s (DU) centenary celebration’s closing ceremony.

Students and teachers at Hindu College, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, and Zakir Husain Delhi College are required to watch the event’s live telecast.

Meenu Srivastava, the instructor in charge at Hindu College, outlined seven rules in a notice that was published on Wednesday. She also mentioned that students would receive five attendance points for watching the live stream.

“During the live streaming of the event, all students must be present. The entrance to the college should be completed by the start of the first period, which is between 8:50 and 9 am, in order to prevent any traffic backups or disruptions later on the DU campus, according to the rules.

“You must have your I-card with you. That day, no black dresses are permitted. They stated that attendance was required of all students and that they would receive five attendance credits for watching the live stream.

Anju Srivastava, the principal of Hindu College, responded that no such notification had been given by the administration when asked about it.

Apparently, there has been some misrepresentation. The college has not published this message. I don’t know,” she admitted to PTI. She didn’t dispute the notice’s falsity, though.

“I have sent letters to all of the professors and students notifying them of the live broadcast and pleading with them to watch it. No one is required to attend, Srivastava continued.

“On this occasion, all teachers with their students and non-teaching staff must attend the live web telecast program in the college,” Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College stated in a notice. It stated that the institution would receive a thorough report.

The Zakir Hussain Delhi College issued an order stating that all staff members, excluding newly appointed teachers, who are physically present at the multipurpose hall, University of Delhi, are mandated to remain present in the college library to watch the valedictory function of the centenary celebrations.

PTI contacted the presidents of numerous other varsity colleges. They insisted that there was no attendance for the event and that they had merely “requested” that the staff and students come.

The management of Delhi University further stressed that attendance was not required; noting that a live broadcast had been planned so that those who could not attend may still participate.

According to Registrar Vikas Gupta, there is no order about required attendance from the university. Since all students are unable to attend, we have informed the colleges that we will be broadcasting the event live. The plans have been made by the colleges. We haven’t mandated attendance, he said to PTI.

High-Stakes Showdown in Madras High Court: 16-Hour Duel over Controversial ED Arrest of Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji

0

In a gripping legal battle that unfolded over an extraordinary 16-hour hearing, the Madras High Court witnessed an intense clash of legal prowess between Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi.

The focal point of this high-stakes showdown revolved around the contentious arrest of V Senthil Balaji, the esteemed power and excise minister of Tamil Nadu. The arrest has ignited a heated debate regarding the powers and jurisdiction of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The case stems from the ED’s arrest of Balaji on June 14 following an exhaustive 18-hour search of his official residence and office in Chennai. The arrest was linked to an alleged job scam. Shortly after his midnight arrest, Balaji experienced chest pain, necessitating his urgent transfer to a city hospital. Subsequent medical examinations revealed a critical heart condition, leading to immediate bypass surgery.

Balaji chose to undergo surgery at a private hospital in Chennai, his preferred medical facility. However, the authenticity of the minister’s health condition was challenged by the ED at the Supreme Court, as they sought custody and objected to Balaji’s surgery at the private hospital.

Amidst the courtroom drama, Mehta, representing the ED, and Rohatgi, appearing on behalf of Balaji’s wife, presented their respective arguments before a division bench consisting of Justices J Nisha Banu and D Bharatha Chakravarthy over two consecutive days.

At the heart of the case was the crucial question of whether the ED had the authority to arrest an individual without a pre-arrest notice, and subsequently seek custody of the arrested person. Mehta staunchly defended the agency’s position, asserting that the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) bestowed upon the ED comprehensive powers to arrest anyone if deemed punishable under the Act.

The outcome of this captivating legal battle will significantly shape the ongoing discourse surrounding Balaji’s arrest and the extent of the ED’s jurisdiction. Stay tuned for further updates as this courtroom saga continues to unfold.

The Solicitor General argued that the habeas corpus petition is not maintainable as it was filed after the order for remand. However, Elango cited previous Supreme Court orders to support the maintainability of the plea and stressed that, as per the law, custodial interrogation cannot continue beyond 15 days of arrest.

The outcome of this hearing will be closely watched, as it has far-reaching implications for the legality of the minister’s arrest and subsequent proceedings. Stay tuned for further updates on this unfolding legal battle.
