PAN and Aadhaar cards must be connected by June 30. What takes place in the event of non-compliance?

0

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has issued a directive requiring all investors to connect their PAN (Permanent Account Number) with their Aadhaar card before June 30. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the inability to engage in trading activities within the securities market. Earlier, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) had extended the deadline from March 31 to June 30.

As per a circular from the CBDT, the PAN assigned to individuals will be rendered inactive if it is not linked with Aadhaar by March 2023. This inactivity will lead to the individual facing legal consequences under the provisions of the Income Tax Act of 1961 for failing to furnish, intimate, or quote the necessary details.

Non-compliance with the PAN-Aadhaar linkage requirement will not only affect investors in the securities market but also pose obstacles for mutual fund investors.

Mutual fund investors who fail to link their PAN with Aadhaar will face restrictions on all financial and non-financial transactions, including systematic triggers. Income distribution cum capital withdrawal (IDCW) reinvestments, payouts, and fixed maturity plan (FMP) payouts will be categorized as unclaimed.

Investors experiencing issues with their folios will be unable to lodge complaints with asset management companies (AMCs) until their PAN is updated. Moreover, due to the unavailability of PAN, Form 15G/H submissions will not be accepted, potentially resulting in a higher 20% deduction of tax deducted at source (TDS). Additionally, brokerage payments for investors with invalid Know Your Customer (KYC) records will be withheld.

To resolve these concerns, mutual fund investors have the option to update and change their PAN, provided it is already linked to Aadhaar.

The process of linking PAN with Aadhaar can be carried out as follows:

Step 1: Visit the income tax Portal (https://eportal.incometax.gov.in).

Step 2: Click on the “Link Aadhaar” tab.

Step 3: Enter the PAN and Aadhaar details and click on “validate.”

Step 4: On the following page, re-enter the PAN details along with the mobile number.

Step 5: Validate the process by entering the One-Time Password (OTP) received from UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) and proceed to pay any applicable penalties.

Step 6: After payment of the penalty, the PAN will be successfully linked to Aadhaar.

Ensuring prompt compliance with the PAN-Aadhaar linkage requirement is crucial for mutual fund investors to avoid disruptions in their transactions and maintain a smooth investment experience.

PhonePe Fires Back: Congress Faces Legal Consequences for CM’s Posters in Madhya Pradesh

0

Digital payment provider PhonePe protested to the usage of its brand in the
Congress-created posters accusing Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj
Singh Chouhan of corruption that appeared throughout Bhopal.
The Congress put up Shivraj Singh Chouhan posters all over the capital city
of Bhopal amid a poster war between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and

the Congress in the election-bound state of Madhya Pradesh, accusing him
of getting work done in exchange for money.
The signs included Chouhan’s visage and a QR code that stated, “50% laao,
PhonePe kaam karao (pay 50% commission to get your work done)”.
In response to the posters, PhonePe stated on Monday through Twitter that
its logo should be taken off the posters and that it “objected to the
unauthorised use of its brand logo by any third party, whether political or
non-political.”
As it requested the Congress party to take down the posters using the
PhonePe name and logo, the business threatened “legal action” if the logo
was used without permission.
PhonePe rejects any unauthorized political or non-political use of its brand
logo by a third party. We are not connected to any political party or
campaign. Our business has registered the PhonePe logo as a trademark.
Any misuse of PhonePe’s intellectual property rights will result in legal
action. We humbly ask @INCMP to take down the posters that feature our
name and logo, the business tweeted.
The recently ended Karnataka elections and the Madhya Pradesh poster
war are related. The Congress sponsored a “PayCM” billboard campaign
against the outgoing chief minister, Basavaraj Bommai, ahead of the
election in the southern state.
According to Supervisor of Police (SP) Rajesh Singh Chandel, a case was
opened at the Padao police station under the appropriate sections of the
Indian Penal Code (IPC) in response to a complaint about the offensive
posters of the chief minister.
He stated that more inquiry was under progress and that the FIR’s (first
information report) accused had not been named.”PhonePe objects to any
third party, political or otherwise, using its trademark logo without
permission. We have no affiliation with any political party or campaign.
“Our company’s trademark, the PhonePe logo, is registered, and any
unauthorized use of PhonePe’s intellectual property rights will result in

Rahul Gandhi Takes Action: Visits Violence-Hit Manipur to Assess the Situation

0

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, will travel to Manipur on June 29 and 30, according to AICC general secretary KC Venugopal. During his tour, Rahul Gandhi would speak with refugees from the ethnic violence, stop by relief camps to see them, and engage in conversations with civil society leaders in Churachandpur and Imphal, according to Venugopal.

Conflicts that broke out at a rally called by the All Tribal Students Union (ATSU) to protest against the demand that Meitei’s be included to the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs) caused violence to erupt in Manipur on May 3.

On June 29 and 30, Rahul Gandhi ji will travel to Manipur. During his visit, he would stop by relief camps and speak with civil society leaders in Churachandpur and Imphal. Manipur has been on fire for almost two months and needs help now more than ever for the society to transition from war to peace. We must be a force of love, not hate, because this is a humanitarian disaster, wrote KC Venugopal in a tweet.

During Rahul Gandhi’s two-day visit to Manipur, former Manipur chief minister and Congress leader Okram Ibobi Singh pleaded with the locals to uphold harmony and foster cooperation.  During Rahul Gandhi’s two-day tour, he asks the Manipurese people to “maintain peace, calm, and extend cooperation.”

The handling of the violence by the BJP governments at the Centre and in the state of Manipur has drawn harsh criticism from the Congress. The party has previously called for Chief Minister N Biren Singh to be dismissed. Notably, the Assam Rifles have, to date, evacuated more than 50,000 displaced people from all communities in Manipur, which has been plagued by violence, and have given them safe passage, housing, food, and medicine.

At the all-party meeting on the violence in Manipur, opposition parties questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “silence” on the issue, but earlier on June 24, Home Minister Shah promised to bring peace back to the state.

Amit Shah also convened a conference to assess the situation in the violently unstable state. In addition to other politicians, the meeting included Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, BJP National President JP Nadda, and CPI (M) MP John Brittas.

Delhi on High Alert: Police Reinforce Security for Eid-al-Adha Celebrations

0

As Eid-al-Adha festivities continue on Thursday, Delhi police have increased security and stated that public safety is their first priority.

Security preparations have been ramped-up and security forces have been organized near the premises of Jama Masjid in Delhi on the occasion of Eid al-Adha (Bakrid) on Thursday. Deepender Pathak, Special CP, Delhi Police, said that top security arrangements have been made and that senior officials are on the field across the national capital to uphold peace and agreement during the celebrations.

Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP Central, declared that “Security of the people is our top priority and with the help of MCD, we are ensuring that the area is clean and hygienic.”

He added that there are approximately 1000 district police officers on duty, and foreign forces are also assisting them. We’re also being helped by an outside power,” he remarked. DCP Central, Sanjay Kumar Sain, said, “Security of the people is our top importance and with the help of MCD, we are safeguarding that the area is clean and hygienic.

The deployment of security forces was also ensured by Delhi Police Special CP Deepender Pathak, who also claimed that the best laws and preparations were done for the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

“On the occasion of Eid-al-Adha, the highest level of security and law and order arrangements has been undertaken. Senior officials are on the scene, and security troops have been deployed appropriately, he claimed.

Additionally, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, a former union minister and current leader of the BJP, sent his best wishes for Eid and declared that India will be the only nation where people of all religions could coexist and celebrate holidays together.

Happy Eid to every citizen of the country, he said to the reporters that India will be the only country where adherents of all religions reside and that we all jointly celebrate religious holidays, which is why it is called “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”

Additionally, Naqvi prayed for the wellbeing and advancement of the nation’s citizens. This is our prayer: “May the nation move forward in peace, progress, and people’s empowerment,” he stated.

On the festival of Eid-al-Adha, Naqvi performed namaz at Panja Sharif Dargah, Kashmere Gate, earlier in the day.

0

MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper, is one of the most loved cricketers of the country and it won’t be wrong to say that he is one of the fittest cricketers of the present times which is proved by the fact that he is still playing the IPL and his contemporaries are busy with commentary and other sports related jobs.

Recently, Virender Sehwag revealed that MS Dhoni stuck to khichdi in the 2011 World Cup while everyone has their own superstitions and MSD felt that even if he is not able to score runs, the team should keep winning the matches.

Well, MS Dhoni has a very strict diet regime as in breakfast, he prefers to have a big glass of milk with fruits, porridge and almonds. In lunch, he likes to have dal chawal and in dinner, he prefers chapattis, vegetable with salad.

Amit Shah’s Arrival in Bihar Sends Shockwaves Following Opposition Parties’ Meeting in Patna

0

Samrat Choudhary, the leader of the Bihar BJP and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are scheduled to visit Bihar to motivate party workers, stated that the trip is a part of the party’s outreach.

After 32 leaders from 15 parties met in Patna last week, all but one of them vowed to work together to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and forge a common agenda ahead of the 2024 general elections, according to Samrat Choudhary, the head of the BJP in Bihar. The visit is part of the party’s outreach programme on the completion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nine-year term in office.

Samrat Choudhary, the leader of the Bihar BJP, stated that the trip is a part of the party’s outreach following the conclusion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration’s nine-year term.

He disregarded the non-BJP party gathering, claiming that as long as Nitish Kumar is the chief minister of Bihar, they do not place much importance on it. People do not see past a resolute and sensitive Modi as the Prime Minister, who has positioned India as a country heard on every global platform. “We may have to think a bit only if there is a new face on the other side in Bihar.

He predicted that around 100,000 people would show up to hear Shah speak in Lakhisarai. According to Choudhary, the non-BJP parties’ frailty was already apparent before they could coexist in Patna. Due to their inconsistencies, “it [the opposition unity] would disintegrate; it is a group solely working to protect its self-interest.”

He labeled the BJP’s rivals as crooked dynasties. Everyone is aware of the level of trust deficit they have and the motivation behind their alliance. The BJP is a democratic party, thus the dread of getting caught is all-consuming. For some, it has been passed down through families for many centuries; for others, a different leader will be in charge tomorrow.

Shah and BJP leader JP Nadda’s visit to the state, according to BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi, was a part of the party’s Bihar strategy. He stated that they will speak to people and solicit comments. Lalan Singh, a member of Parliament for the ruling Janata Dal (United) or JD(U) party, could only do so with the backing of the BJP, he claimed, “would certainly be exposed.”

He claimed that Singh’s backing from the BJP allowed him to win in 2009 and 2019, but after the JD(U) left the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) last year, he has spoken out against the party. Such individuals “need to be exposed, and they will be exposed automatically.”

He predicted that Shah would talk about how the Modi administration has advanced India and why the opposition parties are scrambling to save face. The people are also aware of the opposition leaders’ actions, therefore if they are being held accountable, it is because of those actions.

Vijay Kumar Sinha, a former speaker of the Bihar assembly, claimed that the populace was excited to welcome Shah. He stated that Shah and Modi have been collaborating ceaselessly, and the opposition parties were unhappy with India’s.

Shah will deliver a clear message. Lalan Singh, president of the JD(U), will also receive a message that his time is up and that the people of Lakhisarai will teach him a lesson for siding with those who profit from appeasement politics and corruption.

Singh asserted that anyone can travel anywhere and that Shah frequently visits Bihar. He is acting appropriately, but the people of Bihar must not be duped by hyperbole. They have developed politically. They are aware of those responsible for the development of Bihar and they value Nitish Kumar’s effort.

Nityanand Rai and Giriraj Singh, two union ministers, have been camped out in Bihar for more than a week, hosting public events and engaging with locals to promote the successes of the Modi administration.

NDA won 39 out of the 40 seats in Bihar in the 2019 national elections. The BJP received 17, the JD (U) 16, and the Lok Janshakti Party 6 votes.

opportunities.
Other significant semiconductor industry initiatives were also noted in the

education and workforce development, Lam Research, a leading provider of
semiconductor manufacturing equipment, has proposed to train 60,000
Indian engineers using their Semiverse Solution virtual fabrication
platform. A $400 million investment has also been made public by Applied

Congress Raises Concerns over Pricing of US Predator Drone Deal, Calls for Transparency and Accountability

0

The Congress party has demanded transparency in the India-US drone deal and raised concerns about the pricing of the 31 MQ-9B Predator UAV drones. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera emphasized the importance of national security and expressed doubts regarding the deal. Referring to the Rafale deal, Khera criticized the Modi government for allegedly cooperating national interests and highlighted the ongoing inspection of the Rafale “scam” in France. The Congress party called for complete transparency in the Predator Drone deal and insisted on getting answers to crucial questions to avoid any potential wrongdoing under the current government.

The Congress party has raised concerns and sought clarity on the India-US drone deal, specifically regarding the pricing and attainment process. The Defence Ministry elucidated that the cost and specific terms of purchase for the 31 MQ-9B long endurance drones from the US have not yet been finalized. They stated that they would consider the “best price” offered by the manufacturer to other nations before concluding the procurement.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera highlighted the need for answers regarding the USD 3.072 billion deal for the MQ-9B Predator UAV Drones. He questioned why there was no Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting to approve the drone deal, drawing a parallel with the Rafale deal. Khera also questioned why India was paying more for the drones compared to other countries and why the drones lacked AI integration.

Khera further emphasized that the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) could develop similar drones at a significantly lower cost, raising concerns about the higher price being paid. He questioned the urgency of the deal when the Air Force had reservations about the escalating prices, suggesting that negotiations on pricing and technical specifications, including AI integration, should have been conducted before finalizing the agreement.

Khera highlighted the importance of transparency and sought clarification on the drone deal, pointing out that the public deserves answers and that the deal should undergo thorough scrutiny to ensure the best interests of the country are upheld.

Congress general secretary, communications, Jairam Ramesh took to Twitter and alleged, “Yet another questionable defence deal surfaces, undermining our indigenous efforts, with the Prime Minister at the core.”
