#EmbraceEquity: What can women do to strengthen their financial security?

0

Every year, International Women’s Day is observed to promote the equality and fairness of women across the world. Women have made significant progress in their quest for justice and have learnt the value of their honour. To encourage this war, the United Nations launched the International Women’s Day website and established the theme with #EmbraceEquity.

Every year on March 8th, the globe celebrates International Women’s Day to promote women’s rights and equality. Women have achieved significant progress in today’s day via their battle for justice, and this fight is not only with society but also with themselves. Women have learnt the value of honour by battling among themselves, and women have received equal involvement in this conflict as males. To support this war, the United Nations has developed the International Women’s Day website, and the United Nations also chooses the theme of this day every year, so let’s learn about it.

#EmbraceEquity is the topic of International Women’s Day 2023, which means to embrace equality. Embrace means to embrace, and Equity implies equality. The United Nations hopes that via this campaign, women will be accorded the same respect as men in the workplace and society, because women are still given less importance than men in the workplace owing to gender inequality, and the laboriousness of their job is also underestimated.

According to the International Women’s Day website, #EmbraceEquity suggests that there is no need to write or speak about this equality, but we must examine it and understand the significance of this right. Coupled with this, the campaign’s hallmark image is to embrace oneself, which implies to embrace your stake.

Along with this, many individuals are participating in the #EmbraceEquity campaign on Twitter, where they are expressing their thoughts on women’s power using the hashtag.

Ind vs Aus: Former Australian captain speaks out on Indian pitch after test win

0

The Indian team was defeated by Australia by 9 wickets in the third Test. Former Australian captain Mark Taylor has now made a significant comment about the pitch.

India and Australia are currently playing four Test matches. Team India now leads the series 2-1, however India was defeated by 9 wickets in the third Test. The ICC has deducted three demerit points from the surface at Holkar Stadium in Indore, which will be in place for the next five years. Former Australia captain Mark Taylor has recently blasted Indian pitching.

Former Australia captain Mark Taylor has slammed all three pitches used so far in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, claiming that some ‘gimmicking’ has occurred in their preparation. With one Test match remaining in Ahmedabad, India leads the four-match series 2-1.

The ICC rated the Nagpur and New Delhi pitches as ‘Average,’ while match referee Chris Broad assessed the Indore pitch as ‘Bad.

This poor rating also earned Indore three demerit points, which will be valid for five years. India was bowled out for 109 and 163 in both innings, while Australia scored 197 in the first innings and then won by chasing down a target of 76 on the third morning.

The former opening batter stated that if this occurs on the fourth or fifth day of the match, it is reasonable, but if it occurs on the first day, it is the product of bad (pitch) preparation. He thought the Indore pitch was terrible and that it should have been graded appropriately.

Former India batsman Sunil Gavaskar, on the other hand, is dissatisfied with the ‘bad’ grade given to the Indore surface. He used the Gabba surface as an example, where the first Test between Australia and South Africa in December was rated ‘poor to ordinary’ by the ICC despite concluding within two runs. Taylor disagreed, claiming that the Brisbane surface was the same for both teams, and that the first three Tests of the India-Australia series had been designed exclusively for spinners.

The Australian captain stated that the surface at the Gabba would have aided South Africa’s fast bowlers just as much (if not more) than Australia’s since South Africa had four very talented fast bowlers. This is not true of Indian pitches. Such pitches have been constructed with deception in this location. He went on to say that it provided an opportunity for our spinners to demonstrate their abilities, and that they played far better than India expected.

Alert: Domestic violence is dangerous for your health

More than 1,400 women from the 2019 New Zealand family violence study ‘He Koiora Matapopore’ informed us about their experiences with intimate partner abuse and their health.

According to this study, more than half (54.7%) of women in New Zealand have experienced violence or abuse from an intimate partner at some point in their lives, increasing their risk of developing a mental health disorder nearly three times (2.8 times) and a chronic physical illness nearly twice as much (1.5 times). In the 2019 New Zealand family violence research ‘He KoioraMatapopore,’ 1,400 women from a nationally representative sample informed us about their experiences with intimate partner abuse and their health. To assess the prevalence of violence against women, we used questions from the World Health Organization’s multi-country research on women’s health and domestic violence against women.

Women who had suffered physical violence, sexual violence, psychological abuse, controlling behaviour, and economic abuse were twice as likely to have poor overall health, recent pain or discomfort (1.8 times more probable), and recent healthcare consultations (1.3 times more likely). Psychological abuse, controlling behaviours, and economic abuse were all associated with a higher likelihood of negative health consequences.

One in every five women reported three or more forms of relationship abuse, and these women were at a much higher risk of ill health. Individuals who require police involvement may be in poorer condition than the ladies we spoke with, offering an even stronger justification for supporting and enhancing anti-violence programmes.

The Violence Intervention Programme of ManatHauora/Ministry of Health requires greater attention and resources, and TeWhatuOra/Health New Zealand must prioritise implementation. The programme has constructed an infrastructure to provide evidence-based tools for diagnosing and intervening in family violence, but it is not yet well-established in the health system and will require strong policy, leadership, and resources to fulfil its full potential.Effective, ongoing training on the prevalence and health implications of intimate partner violence is required for healthcare practitioners to assist women who have been abused.

Universities must take the lead in ensuring that healthcare practitioners have the information and skills necessary to address the issue. We also need to broaden our range of interventions to assist women not just in times of immediate danger and crisis, but also to enable long-term rehabilitation and healing from abuse. We must invest in evidence-based preventative initiatives and assure their nationwide, comprehensive, and equitable coverage. Prevention is one of TeAorerekura’s suggestions, although local initiatives might benefit greatly from tapping into worldwide evidence-based preventative techniques. It is both necessary and practical to target men’s knowledge of power and control in relationships and engage them in violence prevention.

Our research found that, while intimate partner violence can have an impact on men’s health, it does not always contribute to men’s poor health. Men who are abused by their partners, on the other hand, require care and assistance. Work that promotes healthy, respectful relationships might result in a healthier population, fewer incarcerations and criminal justice issues, better educational outcomes, and a more economically productive community.

Small Business Money Management Tips to Get Success: Check Out Top 5

0

Money is essential for any business’s success. Industry experts, business trainers, and entrepreneurs provided five money-saving suggestions for small firms and MSMEs.

MSMEs and other small business entrepreneurs that fail usually lack an understanding of financial flow. They lack the capital required to re-enter the market, limiting chances for expansion and scaling-up. Several entrepreneurs encountered such significant obstacles during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Accordingly, MSME and SMB owners must be aware of and understand key concepts for making better use of their money and developing their company faster.

Five valuable strategies for using money properly in company and growing quicker were offered by industry professionals, business trainers, and entrepreneurs.

Cash projections

One of the most crucial components of running a business is cash forecasting (projections), which forecasts the flow of cash in the firm.

RatishPandey, the founder of Ethique Advisory, provides “customer-first” business coaching and consultancy.

A rolling 90-day cash forecast, according to the business coach, gives the entrepreneur an estimate of how much income is needed to meet expenditures.

In practise, this enables effective planning — whether it is targeted at cutting expenses or boosting Days Sale Outstanding (DSOs), resulting in better cash management — freeing the entrepreneur of the stress of timely payment of salaries and other responsibilities.

Handling the financial shortage

Ratish suggests that entrepreneurs concentrate on reducing cash gap issues by establishing payment agreements with creditors.

He emphasises that pursuing and retrieving the money in a timely manner will be extremely beneficial. Working with suppliers on payment, releasing working capital, utilising new-age methods such as bill discounting, and obtaining particular finance for raw materials (unique to manufacturing enterprises) would all be tremendously beneficial in closing the cash gap.

Examining operational efficiency to decrease errors, according to Ratish, would also contribute in the smooth flow of cash.

Keep track of your costs

SumitAgarwal, the Founder of Vyapar — which is an inventory management and business accounting solution for SMBs — says that when a company is doing well, entrepreneurs do not pay enough attention to unnecessary expenses (where the majority of the money goes).

He says why tracking daily costs are critical in business. This can be carried out in two different ways: manually or digitally. A computerised tool may track weekly and monthly costs and omit the superfluous ones, saving a significant amount of money that can be used in other critical activities.

He says that weeding out superfluous business expenditures assures liquidity and allows the company to develop quicker.

Cut back on unneeded marketing costs

Sumit feels that entrepreneurs should reduce non-productive marketing costs.

Giving an example, he continues – We see banner and hoarding ads and also some businesses distribute leaflets to promote their firm. These strategies are useful for building brand recall but not for generating and tracking leads. Marketing that generates leads must be prioritised.

He underlines the need of businesses focusing on internet advertising that promotes their online store or business to the target market directly. This will save them a significant amount of money that they can then use in lead generation marketing.

Correct financial understanding

Small firms and MSMEs, as per Ajay Thakur – who is Head, Startup, and BSE SME – require appropriate finance personnel to keep track of their money.

He notes that many times, businesses experience losses due to a lack of financial abilities, thus it is important to seek expert assistance.

These businesses also rely on informal routes for higher-interest-rate loans, resulting in overspending and debt. Ajay goes on to say that entrepreneurs must understand money so as to make an enhanced use of it in their enterprises.

Shark Tank winner Revamp Moto plans to change transport of goods on bikes

0

Revamp Moto, established in Nashik, provides electric two-wheelers outfitted with modular utility platforms to assist micro-entrepreneurs in increasing their earnings.

Revamp Moto, located in Nashik, offers electric two-wheelers equipped with Modular Utility Platforms. Jayesh Tope, Pritesh Mahajan, and Pushkaraj Narendra Salunke founded the firm after working on various electric vehicles (EV) projects in college and afterwards venturing into developing an agritech supply chain startup during the epidemic. They recognised that micro-entrepreneurs battled with restricted cargo capacity, inferior vehicle quality, inefficiencies in fleet management, and longer breakdown times, so they set out to create a multi-utility bike with several mounting locations to handle a variety of commodities. The firm has created two electric bike models, RM Buddy and RM Mitra, with a range of 70 km and a payload capacity of 120 kg, respectively.

Revamp Moto is a firm that is introducing Mitra, a bike with interchangeable accessory modules, an Internet of Things telematics device, and interchangeable battery packs. It will complete the first 100-200 Buddy deliveries through B2B partnerships by March. The bikes have a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform and a dashboard for real-time communication with the bike about parameters like capacity, range, current position, and defects. The startup has conducted many experiments with shared mobility companies, last-mile delivery companies, and ecommerce companies. Revamp Moto has a 1.5 lakh EV yearly production capability through its Nashik-based contract assembly partner Panache DigiLife.

Revamp Moto competes with market leaders like as TVS Superxl, Hero Electric Nyx, and River. In 2022, Revamp Moto raised a million dollars from Shark Tank India judges Aman Gupta, People Group Founder Anupam Mittal, Lenskart CEO PeyushBansal, and Ashneer Grover, among others. The firm has also received investments from VCATS, Veda VC, the Maharashtra government, Capital A, and angel investors. The reality TV programme assisted them in overcoming the obstacle of establishing in a Tier-II city, since Nashik provides the 40-person team with a strong grasp of the market, minimal capital burn, concentrated product innovation, and government backing. By 2030, India is predicted to sell 22 million electric two-wheelers, whereas the four-wheeler-dominated markets of the United States and China have penetration rates of 63% and 56%, respectively.

The team hopes to sell 40,000 cars of both kinds by the end of the next fiscal year, and it has long-term intentions to join the three-wheeler utility market. Revamp Moto also hopes to enable startup money for micro-entrepreneurs and is already in discussions with several banks about a finance collaboration.
