New Zealand held their nerve to beat England in a thrilling second Test and draw the series 1-1 on Tuesday. In a remarkable feat, the home side, having been forced to follow-on by England, became just the third team (after England and India) to win a Test match after following-on.

This was only the fourth instance a team has won a Test after being asked to follow-on, with England managing it twice, against Australia in 1894 and 1981, while India beat Australia in 2001. Neil Wagner took the decisive wicket of James Anderson as New Zealand wicketkeeper Tom Blundell pulled off a diving catch to secure the win.

Wagner finished with 4-62, and praised his team for their fighting spirit. “Amazing achievement, hats off to everyone, everyone kept fighting,” said Wagner. Blundell was delighted to hang on to the tumbling catch. “Saw it well and luckily it went in clean. Pretty happy,” said the wicketkeeper.

The topsy-turvy Test match saw England on course for victory after declaring their first innings on 435-8, then bowling out New Zealand for 209. However, former skipper Kane Williamson dragged New Zealand back into the Test with a superb

Meet Maneet Gohil who quit his job to help 2200 small businesses reach Japan, US

0

Engineer ManeetGohil explains why he abandoned his job to develop Lal10, a business that helps creative manufacturers and MSMEs digitise their physical inventories and sell their craftsmanship in worldwide marketplaces.

Growing up, ManeetGohil was inspired by his grandpa, a micro-entrepreneur who managed a leather footwear factory in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. On the surface, the firm appeared to be a success, with a revenue of Rs 3-4 crore.

Because of this insecurity, Maneet’s father went into engineering to supplement his income, and as Maneet grew up, he followed suit.

He earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Industrial Management. The 33-year-old began working for Flipkart. For the first time, the concept of working with rural MSMEs struck him here. He claimed that his grandfather’s troubles to make ends meet while owning such a significant company had haunted him for years.

Maneet and his buddies SanchitGovil and Albin Jose resigned their employment in 2017 to travel around the country and meet MSMEs. They visited 18 states and met almost 6,000 individuals, depleting all of their funds. When the trio walked about, they focused on three issues: market access, raw material sourcing, and a lack of funding or loans. They also realised that the supply chain is a major issue.

These insights shaped the company Lal10, which Maneet founded in 2017 with José and Govil as co-founders.

Lal10 is a B2B firm for creative manufacturers that utilise their team’s ‘Lal10 Karigar’ software to digitise their physical inventories.

Maneet claims the name is a play on lalten or lantern, and it fits with their goal to “bring light into the lives” of manufacturers.

The startup is now working with 2,200 MSMEs across Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana. According to Maneet, the enterprises sell their products to buyers in the Middle East, the United States, Japan, and Europe. He adds that they are on target to achieve a revenue run rate of $100 million in the coming year.

Lal10 provides home furnishings such as curtains, bedsheets, rugs, men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, as well as traditional Indian patterns. Lal10, according to Maneet, also assists these manufacturers in obtaining financing. The organisation has helped textile makers like Mohsin in Delhi, who performs block printing, expand their sales.

Nevertheless, Maneet claims that Lal10 has 102 employees at its Noida office. They also have satellite offices and a point person at each location.

Lal10’s owners hope to be the “Alibaba of Indian MSMEs,” increasing their supply chain from 2,200 to 12,500 this year.

Selfiee Box Office Collection: Akshay Kumar’s Lowest Earnings in 10 Years

0

Akshay Kumar’s latest film Selfiee has had a rather disappointing weekend at the box office. According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, it earned around Rs 10 crore after 3 days in theatres. This is Akshay’s fifth flop in a row, after Raksha Bandhan, Samrat Prithviraj, Ram Sethu and Bachchan Paandey.

The film industry has suffered numerous losses last year due to boycott campaigns and the threat of being written off altogether. With the staggering success of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan, the industry was hoping for a revival.

However, Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada tanked on arrival and Akshay’s Selfiee has not been able to contribute to the revival. In an interview with Aaj Tak, Akshay said that this is not the first time he has had consecutive flops. He also said that the audience has changed and one needs to keep up with that change.

Selfiee’s box office collection started with around Rs 2.60 crore, earned Rs 3.75 crore on its second day and has now got Rs 3.90 crore on its third day. Despite Akshay’s earlier films having much

KL Rahul Will Face Criticism if He Does Not Score in India: Ganguly

0

KL Rahul has been facing intense criticism for his poor run in the last few Tests. His average of less than 35 in 47 Tests and inability to cross the 25-run mark in his last 10 Test knocks have raised serious questions on his abilities.

Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly believes that it is difficult for Rahul to escape the criticism due to the high expectations that come with the job and the standards set by past cricketers. Ganguly believes that the team management still persists with Rahul because they see him as an important member.

He also said that the focus and pressure on players could be the reason why Rahul has been struggling. He urged Rahul to find ways to score runs when he gets more opportunities. It is clear that Rahul has potential but he needs to make the most of the opportunities that come his way.

If he can find ways to score runs consistently, then he can be the player that everyone expects him to be.
