Rahul Dravid, the head coach of India, is satisfied with the spin bowling unit

0

Rahul Dravid, the team’s head coach, is pleased with how the Indian spin-bowling all-rounders division is developing, noting that “our stocks are fairly excellent at the moment.”

Ravindra Jadeja’s potential entry into the fray, which would place India in a positive light with regard to the spin all-department, rounder’s was also mentioned by Dravid.

After India’s 16-run loss to Sri Lanka in the second T20I on Thursday, Dravid observed at the post-match press conference, “I think in our spin bowling all-slot rounder’s our stocks are very excellent at the moment.”

“We are satisfied with it,” he continued. “Shahbaz (Ahmed) was also on the team, and considering Washington (Sundar) is there and then Jadeja as well.

The coach stated that it had offered him quite a few alternatives in that area because Axar Patel played his role to perfection on Thursday, taking two wickets in a cost-effective session and also smashing a blazing 65 off just 31 deliveries.

“I believe that in T20 cricket, whenever he has had the opportunity, he has done really well, so, that’s really a good sign for us. People like him, people like Washi not getting a game, he’s batting really well, and obviously Jadeja coming back (soon) as well gives us nice little (options) in that spin-bowling all-rounder area,” said the coach.

Axar’s batting was praised by Dravid as well, with the all-rounder dealing more sixes than fours. Axar kept India in the game till he came to bat by smashing six maximums, three boundaries, and scoring at a strike rate of over 210.

“He is definitely doing a great job, and his batting is improving greatly. We were always aware of his skill with the ball; all that was left to do was work on his hitting. He is putting a lot of effort into it. Sincerely, we had known about him for more than a year (ago).

Axar hasn’t let us down in Test cricket, ODIs, or wherever it has been, according to Dravid. “It’s (batting) an area of his game that we have identified, we know that it’s important for us to have that, and whatever opportunities Axar has had, especially with Jadeja missing quite a lot of cricket, he hasn’t let us down.”

In order to force a decisive game at Rajkot on Saturday, Sri Lanka limited Hardik Pandya’s team to 190 runs after setting India a target of 207 to win the second T20I here on Thursday.

Shivam Mavi’s performance as the perfect counterbalance to captain Hardik Pandya’s fast-bowling all-rounder, according to Dravid, “brought a grin” to his face.

A quick-fire 26 from the young pace bowler at the finish gave the coach hope that he could be used as a pinch-hitter in the last overs.

We largely rely on Hardik as a fast-bowling all-rounder, so we’re looking for other people to step up and maybe fill in for him. Additionally, it was pleasant to see Mavi bat today (Thursday), which makes you feel happy. You can see how one of you fast bowlers could bat like that, I mean.

A sizable Indian team will compete at the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships, which will be held in Dubai from February 14–19, under the leadership of world no. 8 HS Prannoy and gold medalist from the Commonwealth Games PV Sindhu. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) had once more used the technique of choosing the best players directly and holding trials for the remaining members of the squad to choose a team that is capable of contending for a medal in the coveted continental competition.

Due to the COVID epidemic, the event’s last edition in 2021 had to be postponed, thus the Indian contingent would be eager to demonstrate their progress since 2019.

Tulane University to launch $10M fund for women & minority owned startups

0

The Innovation Institute at Tulane University is going to launch a $10 million startup fund for women and minority entrepreneurs. The fund is intended to be self-sustaining, which means that profits from the sale of enterprises will be reinvested in the fund.

Tulane University’s Innovation Institute is going to launch a $10 million startup fund for women and minority entrepreneurs, addressing traditionally underserved populations in getting funding to start firms. The Tulane Ventures fund, which was created with $5 million in government financing and matched with $5 million from Tulane, is the university’s newest effort to boost innovation in New Orleans. Funding applications are likely to start early in the new year.

The seed round will provide up to $200,000 per application over a five-year period.

Kimberly Gramm, Tulane’s David and Marion Mussafer Chief Innovation and Entrepreneurship Officer, said, “We want to develop an innovation community, and we need women and disadvantaged communities to have access.”

The fund was launched just before the annual Greater New Orleans Startup Report was issued by Tulane’s A. B. Freeman School of Business’s Albert Lepage Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The report’s results reaffirmed the necessity for such a new fund:

Following a little gain in equity financing from angel investment, convertible debt, and venture capital for women and minority-owned businesses in the New Orleans region and nationally last year, the 2022 study indicated a funding decrease. Louisiana got $113 million in December from the American Rescue Plan’s State Small Business Credit Initiative, or SSBCI, a government programme designed to help small businesses get started.

The Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) was founded in 2010 as a mechanism for the federal government to assist states in assisting small firms that were creditworthy but unable to obtain funding.

The $113 million was set aside for venture capital and seed funding initiatives. Tulane was awarded a $5 million share.

Gramm explained that the Tulane Ventures fund is intended to be self-sustaining, which means that profits from company sales would be reinvested in the fund to promote future businesses if Treasury Department and Louisiana Economic Development criteria allow.

Portfolio firms will also benefit from the Innovation Institute’s network of services for consulting, mentorship, and coaching. The ultimate goal, she says, is for businesses to stay in New Orleans and reinvest their profits.

“The 2022 study reveals a drop in access to equity investment across the board for BIPOC (Black, indigenous, and people of color)-founded enterprises,” Rob Lalka, executive director of the Lapage Center, noted in the research.

For example, 6% fewer firms with BIPOC founders reported using venture capital investment than the previous year, whereas non-minority founders reported an 11% rise.

A comparable drop was observed in BIPOC-founded businesses that reported using angel funding and convertible debt. “Those percentages are horrible nationally, but they are the majority of the people here in our neighbourhood,” Gramm remarked.

According to the Startup Report, minority-founded firms continue to trail behind their non-BIPOC-founded rivals when it comes to standard bank financing, albeit the margin has narrowed significantly since last year.

Tulane hopes to establish itself as a main conveyer of entrepreneurship in the city of New Orleans with the advent of the Innovation Institute, which will be inaugurated in 2022.

The Venture Fund, Tulane’s first fund for entrepreneurs, is a “huge success for our community,” according to Gramm.

She explained, “It’s like having your first child.”

Gramm said Tulane leadership’s support for the fund demonstrates the university’s commitment to innovation.

The TCS success story :  How India’s most valued IT company grew globally

0

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is the most valued IT firm in the country. Read about how TCS grew internationally, acquired new verticals, and more in this success story.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) surpassed Accenture as the world’s most valuable IT business in October 2020, with a market valuation of US$144.73 billion, or Rs. 10.6 trillion. Furthermore, the company’s shares reached an all-time high of Rs. 2,898 in December 2020, but only a decade before, shares could be acquired for Rs. 375. It was also revealed in 2018 that TCS’s stock had increased by as much as 603 percent in the previous decade!

Here’s how the firm performed during the previous decade. On August 25, 2004, the business went public, making its trading debut on Dalal Street at a 27 percent premium to its issue price, and began delivering a compounded annual return of 27 percent over the next decade.

During this time, TCS’s market value increased from Rs. 47,232 crore to Rs. 4.94 lakh crore, making it the largest among all Indian listed businesses.

At the start of 2021, TCS had a diversified workforce, employing 453,540 employees from 147 nationalities in 46 countries. In December 2020, the firm extended its operations in Austin, Texas, by building a new facility and doubling its footprint. The firm also planned to invest more than $100 million in Austin over the following seven years, with the goal of adding an extra 10,000 local employees in the United States.

TCS also decided to concentrate its operations in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America into a strategic business unit, intensifying its attempts to extend its footprint in emerging regions and diversify its revenue source.

During 2013-14, continental Europe was the company’s fastest-growing market, accounting for 52% of total growth, with Latin America coming in second at 35%.

Today, however, the Americas account for the majority of the company’s revenue, which was expected to be over US$ 10.8 billion in 2020. Because of the company’s global presence, it may hedge its earnings against currency swings, and its income is earned in all currencies.

Accepting Technology

According to a NelsonHall poll, TCS’s primary strengths are its investments in IP enabling automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML), which include the Machine First Delivery Model (MFDM), autonomous infrastructure, ignio, and cognitive service desk, among others.

In 2015, the business released its flagship programme ignio, relying on AI to boost productivity and eliminate the need for human interaction.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, which paralysed the global economy and significantly impacted the productivity and profit margins of businesses worldwide, Digitate, a TCS software venture, announced the debut of ignio AI.Digital Workspace. This was done to assist staff and service desk teams in increasing their productivity.

Since 2018, ignio has reported an average revenue per customer of US$ 550,000 per year by leveraging AI and machine learning to meet major business demands.

It was also stated earlier this year that ignio’s revenue was close to US$ 100 million in FY20, after exceeding US$ 60 million in 2018-19 and US$ 31 million in FY18.

Winning Complex Transactions in New Verticals

TCS has also shown competent at winning complicated projects across new sectors, including platform-led deals, by leveraging its presence and scale. In May 2013, the business was awarded a 6-year contract for well over Rs. 1,100 crore to provide services to the Indian Postal Department.

TCS teamed with Transamerica in 2018 to handle Transamerica’s life insurance, annuity, supplemental health insurance, and workplace optional benefits packages in a transaction valued more than US$ 2 billion in revenue. In addition, the business assumed responsibility for the administration of over ten million policies.

TCS also received a 10-year contract of US$ 690 million from M&G Prudential in the same year. It was stated that TCS will leverage its insurance platform, BaNCS, and Diligentia, to eliminate manual involvement in the British insurer’s back-end claims procedures. The years 2017 and 2018 were exceptionally profitable for the corporation as it expanded its operations across sectors.

TCS also received contracts from a Lloyds Banking Group affiliate, Rolls Royce Group, Marks & Spencer, and television ratings measuring business Nielsen. As a consequence, the business reported a 21.9 percent growth in net profit to Rs. 31,472 crore for fiscal year 2018-19, while sales increased 19 percent to Rs. 1,46,463 crore. The firm recorded a 17.7 percent year-on-year increase in its consolidated net profit for the January-March period in its fourth quarter, which ended on March 31, 2019.

IIS brings its solutions to India to herald positive change

0

Farmer Support Initiative, Sourcing Organic and Health Food Supplies, Supplements and Nutritional Products from India

Non-profit organizations play a key role in the creation of healthy communities; however, most of these nonprofits operate only as donation-based organizations. This is where the International Institute of Solutions (IIS), a California 501c3 Benefit Corp., is playing a key role that sets it apart from other non-profit organizations. The organization is dedicated to solving challenges so that it may have a generational lasting impact that enriches mankind.

Since it was founded, IIS has been operating in the US with one primary goal: Change the World. The organization now brings its trans-formative solutions to India with the aim of making a significant change in the lives of the country’s people.

Towards this end, IIS officially launched the organization in India at a glittering ceremony where Mr Arun Gandhi, Founder and President of IIS USA, was the Chief Guest and Padma Shri Dr Soma Ghosh was the special guest. Mr Gandhi was accompanied by his wife, Kalpana Gandhi. Many personalities from different walks of life and many film celebrities were present as guests at the event, which was held on 18 December 2022 at Raheja Classic Club, Andheri (West), Mumbai.

Dr Viral Gandhi (Voxtour), Dr Santosh Pandey (Naturopath & Acupuncturist), Shriram Singh (New Age Farmer & Investment Banker), Dr Nagarjuna Vasudev Rao (PhD, Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology International) were present at this momentous event (Exchange Program, Agriculture). Film producer–writer and social activist Jainendra Baxi and writer–film historian S M M Ausaja marked their presence, and were felicitated. The hard work put in by IIS India coordinator Dr Vijay Pratap Kushwaha (Chairman, Ayurveda Healthcare) was also evident.

Meraj L Khan (Dairy Products), Siddharth Shirodkar (MD, BY) and Dr M R Narayana Rao (Preventive Cardiologist & Detox Specialist) were also honored at the event. People from different fields, including medicine, IT, Ayurveda, agriculture and the film world, could be seen attending the program and extending their whole-hearted support to Mr Arun Gandhi’s organization.

Music composer Dilip Sen; singer Arvinder Singh; actors Karan Anand, Bobby Vats, Mini Bansal, Pihu Chauhan and Anupam Shukla; director and film producer Amitabh Sinha; and comedian Sunil Pal were also present as special guests. Actress Dalljiet Kaur gave an enthralling performance on stage during this memorable event.

All the guests who attended the program appreciated the works of Mr Arun Gandhi and his organization, IIS.

As stated by Mr Arun Gandhi, the basic principle of IIS is ‘Growth, not Greed’. IIS believes that there are solutions possible to the various modern maladies — which have their roots in millennia-old Indian traditions — and that Western breakthroughs in business methods and technology can be used to address these issues. Actions can be taken to provide livelihood and entrepreneurial success to those who have been adversely affected in India.

Mr Arun Gandhi further pointed out that environmental issues the world over have caused degradation of water and soil, a problem that has hurt small farmers the most. IIS is set to launch an initiative to train 100 subsistence farmers to grow high-value vegetables and fruits with hydroponic equipment provided by us, along with payment of a monthly income for a year and support for education and healthcare for their families. In effect, these 100 families will not have any financial concerns to worry them for a year while they grow Shiitake and Boleto mushrooms, vegetables that grow well using hydroponic methods and high-value fruits including strawberries.

As IIS will also be managing distribution for the farmers, they will have no concerns other than growing and selling. The organization’s scheme will also allow farmers who are not covered under the 100-farmer program to learn from those who will be working with us. Additionally, IIS holds ongoing discussions with partner companies to work on commercial-scale hydroponic production for the processed food industry.

Another significant project of IIS is the Panacea Project, which is registered as a corporation. This entity will offer high potency supplements, organic and health foods suited to the market in question and Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medicines and literature, along with Yoga, Breathing, and Massage services, both in mobile vans and fixed locations through a unique design envisioned by Mr Gandhi, called the ‘Panacea Cube’. IIS is currently negotiating with US Casino and MedSpa groups to place Panacea Cubes at their facilities.

IIS is also planning an India launch following the US launch. More importantly, IIS will source Natural Single Flower Honey and several fruit wines being produced in India (initially, the list will include Gooseberry/Amla, Fig, Pomegranate, and Moringa/Drumstick wines) from India for distribution in the United States through our Panacea Cubes. IIS is also looking at very high-quality India-produced traditional foods including Millet-based Pasta and Noodles, ready-to-eat Indian Vegan Meals, and dried/dehydrated Indian fruits including Indian Blackberry/Jamun, Mango and more.

IIS’s plans are not limited to these starting initiatives. The organization believes that our hard-working farmers, craftspeople and traditional talent have solutions that the world needs. IIS is hence committed to providing ethical, environment-friendly solutions to the issues the world is facing now.
