Each year, thousands of devotees come to the Kedarnath Temple to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva, making the Kedarnath Yatra one of India’s holiest pilgrimages. The journey there isn’t exactly easy, though. There is some wonderful news if you are considering a trip to Kedarnath in 2025 but are intimidated by the long and steep journey: reservations for helicopters for the Kedarnath Yatra 2025 officially began on April 8, 2025.
For older adults, devotees with health issues, or anyone pressed for time, it’s an excellent travel choice. You can now finish your Yatra by flying in a few hours instead of several days. Here is all you need to know, from cost to where to make a reservation.
Where and when to make a reservation
The eagerly anticipated pilgrimage season will begin when the Kedarnath temple opens to pilgrims on May 2, 2025. Early reservations are strongly encouraged because foot traffic is predicted to rise this year. Kedarnath Yatra 2025 helicopter reservations are only available on the IRCTC Heli Yatra website, which launched on April 8. A step-by-step guide to booking Kedarnath helicopter tickets online
- Visit registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in and complete your Char Dham Yatra registration.
- Go to www.heliyatra.irctc.co.in and sign up using your name, phone number, and email ID.
- Enter your Char Dham registration number or Group ID for group booking.
- Select your date, preferred helipad, and aviation company.
- Enter passenger details (maximum 6 per ID; group bookings allowed up to 12).
- For groups over 12, create a second IRCTC Heli Yatra account.
- Verify the OTP sent to your registered mobile number or email.
- Accept the terms and conditions and proceed to payment.
- Download and print your ticket. Carry a valid photo ID for verification.
How much are the ticket prices in 2025
From several helipads, pilgrims can fly to Kedarnath; the cost varies according to the distance and route. The 2025 one-way ticket rates have been adjusted and are listed below:
These rates, which were decided by the aviation operators in collaboration with the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA), represent a 5% increase over the previous season.
Helipads offering chopper rides to Kedarnath
Kedarnath may be reached by helicopter from three important helipads: Guptkashi, Sersi, and Phata. Reservations from Dehradun only go as far as Sersi, where travelers have to switch helicopters.

Kedarnath Yatra 2025 luxury helicopter packages range from ₹1 lakh to ₹2.5 million. These premium packages typically include round-trip airfare, priority darshan, meals, personal help, and optional overnight stays, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable pilgrimage.
Important instructions for passengers
Necessary standards, such as mandatory registration, ID verification, weight restrictions, and group booking guidelines, have been released by IRCTC for travelers booking tickets.
- Children aged 2+ need their seats and pay full fare. Infants under 2 fly free, no seat.
- Max per sortie: 4 adults + 2 children + 2 infants (subject to weight limits).
- Extra weight (over 80 kg, incl. infant) is charged at ₹150/kg.
- Please carry original ID proof for all passengers, including a birth certificate or Aadhaar for infants. Screenshots or half-printed tickets are invalid.
- You should reach the helipad at least 1 hour before your booked slot and be 2 hours early at the entry point for a security check.
- Seating may be split based on weight and operational needs.
