There was a time when the West Indian cricket team used to rule the cricket world as they won the first two World Cups in 1975 and 1979 but the present condition of the West Indian cricket is quite disappointing. It is quite difficult to believe but it is true that West Indies may miss out on playing the World Cup after the sensational victory of Netherlands over West Indies.
The Qualifier tournament is going on in Zimbabwe at the moment and West Indies have lost both the matches –first against Zimbabwe and second against Netherlands and now they have to defeat Sri Lanka, Oman and Scotland and also hope that the results of matches of other teams also go as per their requirements to qualify.
As far as the match is concerned, it was a high scoring game and it went into super over after both the teams tied at the score of 374 runs. The match was played at the Takashinga Cricket club and after winning the toss, Netherlands chose to bowl first. Batting first, WI posted a huge total of 374 runs but Netherlands surprised everyone by putting up a great batting show. However, the Dutch batter Logan Van Beek got out on the last ball of the match when Netherlands needed just 1 run to win the match and the match went into super over.
The Dutch batter Logan Van Beek launched a scathing attack on the West Indian bowler Jason Holder and scored 30 runs in 6 balls of super over. On the other hand, West Indies could manage only 8 runs at the loss of 2 wickets.
Logan Van Beek is the name to remember for every cricket team, what do you say?
