WhatsApp Web boosts security with new lock feature; Know  how to use it

The Meta-owned messaging program WhatsApp has introduced a new screen lock feature for WhatsApp Web/Desktop in an effort to improve user privacy on its platform. By requiring a password, this feature seeks to protect the program from unauthorized access.

The functionality, which was previously under development, has now been handed out to chosen beta testers who are using the current version of WhatsApp Web and are part of the official beta program, according to WABetaInfo.

When the screen lock function is activated, WhatsApp Web is locked and users are prompted to provide a password before they can view their discussion list. Users may determine if this functionality is accessible for their account by going to Settings > Privacy. A screen lock entry point will be shown if it is available.

Users may customize the functionality by specifying when the password prompt appears. If the password is forgotten, you must log out of WhatsApp Web and scan the QR code again.

Screen locks improve privacy. Without the password, no one can access the computer’s conversations or messages while the user is away. When the screen is locked, push notifications are disabled, protecting conversations and personal data.

Screen lock will be available to WhatsApp Web beta users in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp solved an Android widget bug in a beta update. This improvement necessitates the most recent beta version (2.23.17.13) from the Google Play Store.
