Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, widely known for his aggressive on-field demeanor, has often made headlines for his passionate displays during matches. However, his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, once revealed that Virat is the complete opposite when away from the pitch. In a 2019 interview, Anushka described Virat as the “calmest” person she knows.
Anushka explained that Virat’s on-field aggression is driven purely by his passion for the game, but off the field, he is extremely relaxed. “He’s one of the calmest persons I’ve met. Off the field, he’s so relaxed. You can ask my friends, my team. He’s not aggressive in real life. That’s only his demeanour on the field. He’s the most shaant (peaceful) person I know. I look at him and I’m like, ‘Wow! You’re so chill,’” she said.
The couple, who tied the knot in December 2017, has been married for seven years. They welcomed their first child, daughter Vamika, in January 2021, and had their second child, a son named Akaay, earlier this year.
Anushka has been on an indefinite break from acting since her last film Zero (2018). She had announced her next project, Chakda ‘Xpress, a biopic on cricketer Jhulan Goswami, and it is reported that filming is complete, although the release date is still pending.
There has been widespread speculation that Anushka Sharma and Virat may be planning a permanent shift to London. Reports suggest that Anushka spent several months of her pregnancy in London, fueling rumors that their son Akaay was born there. Fans have been guessing that the couple might settle in London after Virat retires from all formats of cricket, especially since he announced his retirement from International T20 earlier this year. However, the couple has yet to comment on these rumors.
