When Salman Khan Said, “If I Had Done Shah Rukh’s Baazigar, Then There Would Be No Mannat”

Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are the two superstars of Bollywood who have been ruling the industry for long now. In their filmy career of more than 3 decades, they both have given numerous superhits and made audience crazy with their amazing and power-packed performances.

The two stars share a great camaraderie now, however there had been times when a rift came in their relationship. Salman Khan once even jokingly said that Shah Rukh Khan would not have tasted immense success in Bollywood if salman had agreed to do “Baazigar”.

Talking about the old media interaction which took place in 2007 with The Indian Express, Salman Khan was questioned about having any grudges against Shah Rukh as his “Chak De! India” was superhit and Salman responded with, “Not at all. I refused the film and he signed it so it’s fair. I had refused Baazigar as well.”

He added, “When Abbas Mustan came to me with the script, I asked my dad for his inputs. He felt that since it’s a story of a negative character they should add an angle of the mother in it. They didn’t agree. When I said no to the film, they went to Shah Rukh and then they added the mother angle! (Laughs).”

The “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” actor went on to say, “But I don’t regret it at all. Just imagine, if I had done Baazigar then there would be no Mannat standing in Bandstand today. I’m very happy for Shah Rukh and his success.”

Well, by refusing to do “Baazigar”, Salman Khan has given the Indian Cinema a great actor as Bollywood would not have been the same without Shah Rukh Khan and his movies, especially romantic ones; after all, SRK is called the King of Romance for a reason.
