Veteran actress Sujata Mehta recently shared insights about Sridevi, reflecting on her relationship with Mithun Chakraborty. Speaking on the YouTube channel Hindi Rush, Sujata revealed that Sridevi and Mithun were deeply in love, and the breakup left the Mr. India star heartbroken.
“She was so distraught, yet incredibly professional. As soon as the camera rolled, she would transform completely, but off-camera, she often sat quietly in a corner,” Sujata recalled. She added, “They were madly in love.”
Mithun and Sridevi reportedly developed a close bond while working on the film Jaag Utha Insan. Allegedly, their relationship led to a secret court marriage in 1985, which lasted until 1988. However, Mithun was already married to Yogeeta Bali, whom he wed in 1979, and they share two sons, Mimoh and Namashi Chakraborty.
Reports suggest that in 1987, as Boney Kapoor grew closer to Sridevi, Yogeeta Bali discovered Mithun’s alleged affair. This also strained the friendship between Boney Kapoor and Mithun. Eventually, Sridevi reportedly filed for an annulment in 1988, marking the end of her relationship with Mithun.
